Recent IRP Renewal Outside Dublin

Hi All,

I was just wondering from anyone renewed their IRP Card outside Dublin within the last 6 months or so.
So for those who renew in their local Garda Station etc.
After the renewal appointment, how long did it take to receive your new card?

Just to mention, whether you do your renewal in Dublin (a.k.a. online) or outside of Dublin, once your application has been approved, it is going to be the same timeline - all cards are printed centrally at the same location and then shipped out around the country. Last time I heard that takes around 3-4 weeks, although I'd expect that the backlog should have been largely cleared now so it should be a bit quicker.

Here online on this page at the top it still says 9-10 weeks, but further down it says 5-6 weeks. This was on the Dublin renewals page though, and there's no information on the page for outside of Dublin so I thought possibly they were taking different times.

My partner renewed in Limerick on Monday and was told it would take three weeks for the card

Perfect, thanks Seems like it should be more or less back to normal from before covid. Last time my husband renewed in 2019 it took about 4 weeks for the card.

Here online on this page at the top it still says 9-10 weeks, but further down it says 5-6 weeks. This was on the Dublin renewals page though, and there's no information on the page for outside of Dublin so I thought possibly they were taking different times.

That timeline is between when the application is submitted and when the application is processed. (So if you live outside of Dublin, that is the time between when you book the appointment and the actual appointment date.)

On top of that, it will take another 3-4 weeks to get the card back in the post.

We got our card in less than 2 weeks after the renewal appointment in Cork.

Applied in Galway in September, received by post in 12 calendar days.
