UK Pasport/Citizenship/Nationality/OCI

Post by KUMARVK » Fri Oct 31, 2008 12:52 am

I am from india.Recently I got the ILR.
recently we have submitted the baby registartion form MN1 for my son who was born here in uk when I was on workpermit.he hold indian passport with ilr status.

My questions
Will he become british citzen after registration ?
then what will be the natioanlty?

still I am not clear whether we should apply british passport for him or to apply right of abode or any alternatives,my friend was telling to apply bristh passort then OCI
my plan is after 2 years I will go back to India permanantley so what is the best thing to do for my son's case.

please advice

Yes!

Nationality of the child? British, of course!

Child needs to be registered as British first.

Will child be eligible for OCI?
my plan is after 2 years I will go back to India permanantley so what is the best thing to do for my son's case.
British passport + OCI is probably the best option, unless you aspire for him to be a politician in India or something like that.

Yes, JAJ is correct

child is not eligible for OCI unitl one of the parents are eligible for OCI.

Now I am realising what a blunder I did , I registerd my son under section 1(3), recived his naturalisation certificate, applied for british passort.

Today when I called the HCI london they adviced me to apply for PIO.
I don't know much about PIO, can some expalin hwo to to apply for PIO and the pros and cons. parents hold indian passpot & citizenship.
