Stamp from solicitor - is it essential?

Post by shk1000 » Thu Jan 27, 2022 12:21 pm

Hi All,

I have found solicitor who is going to give me certification of both passports and other documents at discounted rate, but he doesn't have a stamp. On the new passport certification form there is section for stamp - could anyone please tell if Stamp is absolutely essential - would it delay application if I dont get one?

Thanks.

How would they know who is the solicitor or if that person signing the document is the solicitor without a stamp? The stamp indicates name, business title etc. of the person that is the owner of the signature. Without a stamp there is no difference if a random person signed it or if it's a solicitor.

Stamp of what? It's not meant to be appostilled or such. Should all solicitors have a rubber stamp with their details on it? I would assume that a wet signature, name, contact number, address of registered office would be enough. I mean if anyone wants to check (and you should check the solicitor before you commit), you can go here (Law Society of Ireland) and check if they are legit.

Agree with that. Peace commissioners doesn't have stamps as well, it doesn't mean their authority is not legit.
