Naturalisation of parents and registration of son <18 born abroad

Post by curiousja » Thu Jan 13, 2022 11:13 pm

Hi

Happy New Year!

Thanks for all the help in the past posts.

Sorry for starting a new post as previous ones are locked now.

I along with my wife and son got ILR in 2019.

Myself and wife want to apply for naturalisation and for my son, we want to apply for registration as a British citizen (note- my son is born abroad and is currently less than 18 years.)

Please suggest can I add my wife and son in the same AN form, if I add my son in AN form, will it automatically connect with the MN1 form, so we don't have to fill his MN1 form separately if we simply add him in AN form correct?

My son will be 18 in Feb 2022, please suggest if we online submit the AN form (mentioning him as a child/my son) before his 18th Birthday, will it be considered <18 or do we need to also do the biometric appointment before his birthday?

Thanks,

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards,

You can. The form automatically changes to MN1 when you add a Minor. If he turns 18 during the process, you will later get a notification to pay £80 odd to book a ceremony.

Hi Mesn,

Thanks for your reply!

So if I submit his application form (along with ours) before his 18th Birthday, we are fine, and doesn't matter even if we take a biometric appointment after his 18th birthday, correct?

Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yes, you can add spouse and child to yours. This is answered many times on the forum.

You were also advised of this last year in July when you asked!

british-citizenship/registration-or-nat ... l#p2021761

Once your son turns 18, he will be asked to pay £80 (if approved) for the ceremony.

Hi

Many thanks for your reply.

Yes, that is clear to me.

Just a minor doubt- So if we submit his application before the 18th birthday that will be Ok, even though we give biometrics after his 18th birthday, correct?

Apologies, just clarifying this, if I'm interpreting it correctly.

Thanks in advance!

The date of application is the date you submit and pay online and NOT the date you attend biometrics.

Dear respected moderators, senior members, and members,

I’m submitting the AN for myself and my wife, along with my son <18.

I would be extremely grateful if you could help me with the following questions-

Section 1- Related to me, in the form

Employment details- Have you had any other work over the past 10 years or since you came to the UK? Yes (This is in addition to my current job).

Previous employment details: I have worked full-time and part-time. Full-time is clear to me and mentioned in my application, I have some questions related to part-time, please see below-

-- Do we need to mention part-time as well?

-- Do we need to mention visiting researcher jobs where no contract is signed?

-- Do I need to mention a job that during studies I was appointed (signed contract) but never got work or money for it?

-- Do you have any dependents not applying with you at this time?- I have another child who already got British citizenship and not applying with us so I should say Yes, correct?

--Is there any order/sequence of referees (referee 1, 2) in AN or MN1 form (will link to this for my son), for example, one belongs to a specific profession and another British citizen?

Section 2- Wife’s question

--Are you now or have you ever been known by another name- yes, repeat again as I mentioned in my application about my wife’s other name, i.e.? Before marriage, she needs to write it again- correct?

--Have you passed an approved English language test? Yes Did the test assess your speaking and listening skills at a level equivalent to CEFR B1 or higher? Yes

--I guess she used her certificate in her ILR in late 2019, I think it will still be valid as she used this for ILR, correct??

--You are now completing the form for someone else- No (as my wife filling her part), correct?

Section 3- related to my son

--Does your parent or legal guardian share your address, telephone number, and email? Yes
Note my son shares address with us although telephone number email can be different, for simplicity I’m saying yes so that details of information related to our application can be communicated to one email, is it Ok?

Looking forward to your reply,
Thanks in advance!
