Previous Addresses - Citizenship Application

Post by Crae » Wed Feb 09, 2022 12:12 pm

Hi,
has anyone here applied for citizenship?

On the form it says fill in ALL previous addresses.
Do you think they really require ALL addresses I lived in my entire life?

I've lived in 6 different countries, and probably 30-35 different addresses. I don't remember half of them.
Sure, I know which city I lived in, and which year. But wouldn't be able to provide an exact address or exact date. Who saves rental contracts from 20 years ago in a different country...?

Doesn't it say that you need to provide them for last 9 years?
But I think later in the process you'll have to be more specific with your addresses for garda vetting.

are you sure, you didn't misread it, its last 9 years before the application submission or your entire life?

Edit : I cant delete this, I see meself2 already replied the same, around same time:) .

In the application it asks for 9 years, then for evetting it asks for your all of your past addresses.

Well not sure what OP is expecting as an answer, don't think anyone can advise you to skip the addresses you don't remember or don't write some of them as it will be grand. Just try to give much as detail you can, at least a general street address, city, country name should be a good beginning to ask request about your past from that country.

On the Form 8 I printed it doesn't say "9 years" anywhere. Where did you see this?
It just says "Please provide ALL of your addresses, both in state and abroad, starting with the most recent one"

I have records of all my addresses in Ireland the last 7 years, and the last one before I moved here. I think 9 years would be doable.

But I studied abroad in Spain back in the 90s, I lived in South America a while like 20 years ago.
I have absolutely no record on exact dates or even where I lived.

Oh, I found it in the instructions. :)
"Please list addresses for the last 9 years..."

Phew, that shouldn't be an issue. :D

Page 10 of Form 8 says:

Section 4: Previous Addresses
Please list all your addresses for the last 9 years if a standard application or 5 years if
married to an Irish citizen. Include Irish and overseas addresses.

It's funny to see ISD still has conflicting information in their own form, just few pages apart.

I have just downloaded form 8 Version-6.3-22.12.21.pdf

scroll down to page 10

-Section 4: Previous Addresses
Please list all your addresses for the last 9 years if a standard application or 5 years if
married to an Irish citizen. Include Irish and overseas addresses.

It says last 9 years.

Thanks, yes I did find it!

Made it so much easier! 9 years is perfect. :)
In the last 9 years I've only lived in EU.

10-12 years ago I worked as a Scuba Instructor.
Those addresses would have been terrible to try to track down...
And would have looked very weird on the application;
'4 months in Thailand, 4 months in Indonesia, 3 months in Ecuador, 3 months in Peru...'

Keep in mind you'll need your all addresses (at least what you can remember) for Garda vetting at a later stage, that's just how it is. You have a year and a half to say the least to prepare!

Garda Vetting? So I would need to provide more addresses at a later stage?
That's what you get for being a "global citizen"...

My wife literally lived at same address from the day she was born, until she moved to Ireland.

I started counted for myself now, and I'm actually up to 11 countries and 41 various places I lived...that I can think of. And I wouldn't be able to tell you the address of half of them.
I can give city, or island and an approximate date.
All very touristy places though, so hopefully it should be no problem with Garda

i had a same situation when I was applying for citizenship couple of years ago. I pointed in the application the address I arrived in ireland but prior to this I was here already and they’ve asked me to present previous address and I found it forgotten somewhere in the corner by accident.
