When were you asked by DoJ to send the supporting documents - P21 etc? The approval is at least 6 months from when you send those docs.

Also did your 5 yr residency was clean? I mean were you on working visa/permit etc continuously for full 5 years OR was there some employment break / mix of periods with unemployment/student visa etc.

To be honest, sitting and waiting won't take you anywhere. It's nearly 3.5 years. Speak to your local TD. Write repeated reminders to DoJ for clarifications. You should have got the red book by now.

Hi all,

I've applied early August 2005 and I haven't heard from them at all.

Maybe a silly question, but just to be on the safe side ... Mendo and Last Man Standing: Did you change address? Did you write to DoJ updating your new address?

After reading the Parliamentary Questions, it looks like some people just forget to keep DoJ up to date with their addresses and the DoJ cannot reach them.

No I haven't changed address, they've told me to wait after I've sent them a letter few weeks ago, asking for a update.

@mendo and last man standing
- I know of at least one person who had applied in aug 2005 and who got his letter of approval about 3 weeks back, so I guess you should be hearing from DoJ soon regarding this matter. He had applied on the same basis as you--living and working in Ireland on a full-time job for 5 yrs.

The approval is at least 6 months from when you are asked to send those docs. In your case, you actually recd the request from DoJ quite late.
Probably your file is retained in Dublin office who are not as fast/efficient as Tiperrary counterpart.

Got approval in this morning's post.
No further docs were asked for.
Court appointment in 2 weeks, not in Dublin.

Good bye and good luck to all.

Wow congratulations on your good news.

Did you apply in June 06?

Funny enough I've applied in May but haven't got anything yet apart from request for further documents! It kind of reinforces my theory that processing time might depend on the original nationality!

Congrats bloody foreigner. Now you are bloody Irish  . Take a day off
and enjoy.

When did you apply originally? I assume you were never asked to send additional documents. About ashimashi's comments - if you don't mind, what nationality are you guys. How can it make a difference??

Iranian here, not the most favourite in the world nowadays. They may run more checks on some nationalities for example.

Funny enough I'm even married to an Irish person and it's not making any difference...

BF applied on June 2006. See page 20 of this thread.

Link to Page 20:

And it looks like he wasn't asked for P21, bank statements, etc. ... Or was he?

Hi all,

I have applied for Citizenship on 19 Aug 2007. Got letter with ref no on 18 Sep 2007. I have applied base on 5 year finish work on work permit. I got my LTR on June 2006. My LTR get finish on 10 jun 2010 same as my current passport.
i heard from friend that INIS are started proccessing 2007 application.

I would like to find out if i need to apply for extension of LTR, as it is taking 18 months for processing. If whatever my friend was saying about application processing for 2007 is correct, then i dont need to apply for LTR.

Application with Minister

Post by Lost Soul » Sun Nov 02, 2008 7:56 pm

Hello

I applied for naturalisation in June 2006.

I have heard nothing since. I phoned on Thursday and eventually got through.

I was told that all they could tell me was that my application was with the minister.

Any idea what this might mean. No requests for any information were made.

Hi Ib,

I'm the same. I have no idea how long more it might take. I'm guessing between 4 and 6 months however in some cases it looks a lot shorter as you can see from some postings here in this board... let's keep in touch and update eachother and the board please.

Kind Regards,
AI

Many congratulations Dan10.

For the benefit of us suckers still wating :), could you by any chance let us know:

1. Did they ask for additional documents?
2. If yes, when, and how long did it take from when you sent them in till you got your yes letter.

Congrats again!
