Hi,

Congrats,

I had question for you?

My claim period would be 1st November 2007 to 31st October 2008,

a)Should I consider the Oanda exchange rate as on 31st October 2008?

b)Or should I consider the date I submit my application, e.g. I would be submitting the application on 12th November 2008, should I consider 12th November 2008 Oanda exchange rate.

Waiting for your reply

VJ

31-Oct-2008, since that's the last date of your salary. It's mentioned in Tier 1 policy guide too.

Hi VJ,

I applied on 24th Oct at VFS Bangalore. It will be good if you attach your self assessment printout alongwith your application. And it will be good if you use the conversion rate same as what the self assessment tool has used. They use the current rates from oanda.com.

You should use the closing spot exchange rate on the OANDA website on the last day of the period for which you have claimed earnings in that currency

so you should use 31Oct08 rate

OANDA website is not showing the correct rate of exchange. They convert GBP into US Dollar, which is then converted into INR. There should be a direct conversion of GBP into INR. Nobody knows where the closing spot rate of exchange on the website is !!

Hi Zion

Congrats on your Tier1.

I have a question for you. Are you a Korean national or working there on some sort of work permit.
Regards,
Saurabh

Preprem - When you get to the page on OANDA where it shows you the converted rate, read the note below it - it states that the conversion rate is based on estimated Dollar prices.
