Self assessment.

Post by Caramelsugar » Fri Feb 25, 2022 1:44 pm

I am qualified to apply for citizenship now but my HMRC self assessment which is a requirement is not due until April. Any advice on what to do in this circumstance? Wait or include letter that self assessment isn't due yet?

Just include the latest assessment, i.e. last years's and add the note that current is not due yet.

I had a PAYE job that ended February 2021. Then became self employed afterwards. So I do not have any previous self assessment

Self assessment

Post by Caramelsugar » Sat Feb 26, 2022 8:01 pm

If anyone can advise on what to do. That will be helpful pls.
I got ILR Feb 5 2021, and left PAYE job . Then I set up limited company as director and became self employed in 12th February 2021
I want to submit citizenship application but in a dilemma regarding self assessment. I am required to submit most recent tax year statement and corresponding HMRC returns as proof of self employment
I have asked my accountant to submit self assessment for February 2021 to April 2021 and to include my P45 so as to cover for tax year April 5 2020 to 2021. I am not sure if that is the proper thing to do.
The next tax year account statement is not due until after April 5 2022.
What should I do? Pls advise. Thank you

Attach your cover note explaining, also perhaps the registration document.
