E vetting and citizenship application

Just got an email confirming that my e-vetting has been completed and a disclosure has been made to INIS Garda is absolutely on the ball!!

Does anyone know how long it takes from completed e-vetting to approval? Fingers crosssed it's happening soon!

Anyone from the recent spate of e vetting got approval granted yet? Looks like most recent approvals didn't go through this stage on the timelines thread. Are they approving via declaration of fidelity still or are we back to the ceremonies?

Just got my confirmation from Garda that my vetting complete and submitted. Hope that’s good news. First application submitted 10/2020 and compare to some of you still not that long and covid restrictions in between.

The declaration. Which made me very happy, as I didn't want to wait for the June ceremony.

Based on these measures, my Department's objective is to achieve an improved timeframe of 6-9 months for decisions on a majority of applications during 2022.

Hope that'll be successful.

I hope that they don't stop with the approvals via post because I might be in time for the next ceremony (early Feb-2021 waiting e-vetting to be sent from garda back to the office, they are approving people from Nov-2020 as we can see on this thread) in June but if not I'll be waiting another 6 months for another ceremony which is just unnecessary. I don't know why they can't keep approving people then invite them over for the ceremony in the future.

bad decision...because there is no way to stop a person with Covid from attending an in-person citizenship ceremony.

My friend last December who got his approval. however, was sick and intend to travel to the citizenship ceremony and I told him do not go, but he didn't care then booked the ticket and a hotel, but the ceremony was postponed.

Applied in October 2020. Application received and passport sent back on the 26th Feb 2021. I was requested to provide more information about out of state travel from 2015 until present (2021). I've been in Ireland since October 2011 and travelled a lot with work.

Got a letter 11th March 2022 about providing approval for evetting and sent it back the following day. Received email from the Garda today (21st March 2022) to fill out the evetting, which I did. Now just waiting on that being reviewed.

For the question about turn around time....
Applied Feb 2020 and I got the letter for e-vetting in September 2021.
Sept 20th, 2021.... I received the vetting request by email. September 29, 2021....Vetting was disclosed to the citizenship department
No further correspondence until February 2022, when I received the approval letter.

I had the choice of declaring fidelity, submitting the money, and getting the naturalisation certificate by post or to wait for the next citizenship ceremony, no dates were set. I chose to receive the certificate by post because
1. I waited long enough and wanted to start the passport application before covid cases surge again
2. There is no guarantee the ceremonies will, indeed, commence
3. If the ceremony doesn't commence before my visa expires, I would have to pay €300 in stamp 4 renewal.

E-vetting link received today, completed and sent back. Email received from Garda stating: "Your vetting application is now awaiting review by Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS)". today.


Another email saying: "Your application forwarded through Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) has been received by the National Vetting Bureau."

Congrats and good call for not waiting for a ceremony! I don't see any pros for choosing to wait for a ceremony to be honest. Especially since the Passport office will probably be under extra pressure after a ceremony (if it happened) and will make the passport process take even longer than it's taking now.

I emailed a few solicitors last week asking about the JR route. One of them said he is happy to help for 1K. And another advised me to wait until waiting at least 2 years (it will be 2 years in June), but she said she doesn't mind doing it for 250 euros if I insist. Given the news about the upcoming ceremony dates, I'd be really devastated if I don't get approval by June, as that might mean having to wait for the next ceremony in December, so not really sure whether to go for JR now or wait and hope for the best.

Anyone knows what's the worst thing that could happen if I go for JR before waiting two years (I applied in June 2020, so 1 year and 10 months waiting now)? I'm not really familiar with the legal details.
