Re change of address docs…

“If you have moved address since you completed your application, you should provide a scanned copy of proof of that new address e.g. original utility bills, bank statements, government correspondence within 5 working days.“

so just one item as proof of new address? Curious what exactly they mean saying "scanned copy" and then "original" utility bills. (seems like two opposite things). Does one need to provide a scan of a posted envelope as well? All of my bills are paperless: Electric, Cable, Bank Statements ..

I didn’t have any utility bills in my name as I only moved to Italy permanently last summer and all the bills are in my husbands name so I scanned my local council registration document when I became resident here and they accepted that. If your bills are all online just forward one of them to your files then attach that file to the email your send them back when they ask for your confirmation of address. I emailed them back straight away and it was confirmed within half an hour!
Cool, thanks for the answer! I''m headed back to Italy myself once this goes through. A presto!

Hi there, I think that it would be safe to assume that your FBR will effectively be processed in date order from when you documents were received. I applied and paid on 8 Jan 2019, and a short time after I ended up with cancer which resulted in four serious operations in that year. I didn't get to the documents submitted stage until 3 February 2020. I am just starting to see a chink of light on the horizon. Good luck to all Martin
I hope you’re making a good recovery. Good luck with everything.

With regard to my own application, has anyone has had anything to do with Laura on team 8 recently? My address confirmation has come to a dead stop and I just get out of office replies from her.

Submitted my application on 17th Feb 2020, sent off documents shortly after but never received the confirmation of received documents. Is this cause for worry?

I sent the docs on 21.2.20 and got the docs received email on 25.11.20 - I would certainly ask the question now that we are able to. I'm sure its all fine

Just curious, when you say "now that we are able to", has the chat function come back? What method of contacting FBR are you referring to? just curious.

I suspect he has contacted them via the web chat. I think you can contact them via this link: https://www.dfa.ie/about-us/contact-us/ ... tizenship/

Yes, I mean the chat (but I have seen others have called up and have been given information).

I only tried the chat once and got straight through (I know this was lucky compared to some folks wait...!)

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know the chat was running again. I had assumed it was not back yet. How long ago did you get through?

When confirming an address, do they call the US?

Hi all!

So excited to see our applications finally coming up - I got the confirmation my documents had been received 20th January 2020 and I see examples of people with later dates getting confirmation of address emails.

Can somebody who has received the confirmation of address email please let us know the email it was received from, and the subject line of the email?

My Gmail account is awash with spam emails so I want to set up some alert rules to help ensure I don’t miss this important email.

Fingers crossed for everyone!

I was wondering the same thing but it seems highly unlikely given the time differences. For example, I live in California which is 8 hours behind Dublin.

Looks like there’s at least 3 of us on the same timeline - I received confirmation of documents on the 21st of January 2020.

As I understand it from people on this board, times vary pretty substantially between the people and teams that work on the applications. Some teams are faster than others. Luck of the draw seems like, but seems like you should be coming up soon tho. good luck!

I think it’s more to do with the complexity of the applications. Different teams may be given more complex applications. People on the boards don’t give a context of their own applications. Mine is relatively straight forward but add in far longer time periods or dead relatives/missing documents/multiple countries involved and it could take far more time.

So I phoned them up just a few minutes ago to check - they tell me that it's normal not to have received a confirmation if the documents were received during lockdown when no-one was in the office, and so it's not a cause for concern right now. She said they are doing them in batches, Jan 2020 is being done now, and in a few weeks time Feb 2020 application will start to be processed

That's great and thanks for letting us know.

I hope their version of a few weeks isn't the same as Simon Coveney, or we might be waiting until September :D

First time Passports are kind of a mystery right now. Some have posted they are getting them almost 2 weeks before due date and others 4-5 weeks after. Must be similar to FBR in that who actually looks at the application determines how quickly it's processed. I'm on my second attempt now (mother born in Ireland so fairly straightforward ), first time it went 3 weeks past due date when they told me they couldn't contact my witness, so back of the queue I went. My new revised due date was then pushed out a further 9 weeks once they received my new witness form, but I'm there now and it still hasn't been processed. My advice, make sure you have everything in order when you submit. I'd say plan on on 3 months.

love seeing the wave of 2020 applications going through! At this rate, I think they'll prolly get to mine in the December 2020 pile end of this year/beginning of next. Congrats to all the new citizens!
The one I did for my daughter should also be in that pile!

I'm hoping there are no issues with it - I sent all the documents they asked for, there aren't any missing, the only very small dodgy thing was noticing they'd put an extra "r" in my Irish grandmother's surname on my father's birth certificate. Presumably a transcription error from the original document.

I can't really believe my country was so stupid as to make all this necessary.

Hi all!

Feels totally surreal to actually be able to post an update, but I received my confirmation of address email this morning. My timeline is as follows:

Application online: sometime in March 2019 (took me until Dec. to actually send off my docs though)
Docs received in Dublin: January 7 2020
Confirmation of address: March 1 2022

For those of you asking about the email it came from, it came from a specific staff member with an email ending in @dfa.ie My doc confirmation email came from noreply@dfat.ie The subject of today's email was "Foreign Birth Register" and then my application number. Hope this is helpful! I will update the spreadsheet with my info as well.

I received my congrats email today.

Applied 19th Dec 2019
Docs received 23rd Dec 2019
Confirmation of address 8th Feb 2022 (change of address evidence sent back to team 8 on same day)
Congratulations email 1st March 2022

I think Laura from team 8 might have taken some holiday recently.

Got there in the end! Will update the doc when I can find it. It’s an amazing feeling to finally be European again, esp as a permanent resident of a European country. On to passport application next…!
