Thanks for reading some important ideas about the current job market.
Can anyone able to give me idea about the Current Job status in Shipping Line offices or Freight Forwarding Company.
I am planning to come in UK by end of December.
If any one related with this sector please suggest.
Regards
Mhu

Moreover, we are fast approaching end of the year, which is not making things easier either. To be honest it will be better to wait until may be April next year to see if things turn any good.

Hi
Can any one give me an approximate picture of job scenario for IT Jobs in Java/J2EE family? (Got Tier1 Visa for 3 years)
I have 5+ years of exp. & expertise/familiar with all the Technologies under J2EE.
If I come down in mid of December,2008 how would it be?
I know that during last 15 days of December, nothing much happens in UK & I will use these days for settlement.
Thanks In Advance
Mohan

Market is almost dead for IT. One of my friend who has equivalent exp. is struggling in UK for last 3 months.
I will suggest you to move to UK, not before Feb 2009.

I wont recommend coming in the last 15 days of december even to use it for settlement because nothing ever happens in the last 15 days. All companies are running on minimum staff , some council offices are closed in the last week of december. So you'll have living cost but will not be able to do anything. If your cming only to settle down you might as well wait another 15 days.Even for things like opening a bank account you might find the application will only progress in Jan so in fact you will be wasting your time and spending money.

I have 4.5 years of experience in microsoft technologies (.net and sql server) and working for CMM level 5 MNC. I got tier 1 (general) migrant visa and looking for job in uk. I am applying through cwjobs.com and reed.com. I am not getting any responses. Please let me know other job sites if any. Is it possible to get a job in uk from india or I need to travel to uk?

Finance sector is probably the worst affected as well as the source of the current turmoil. It's only getting worse. Unemployment in UK has almost touched 2m mark.

Hi All,
I am an Architect and i found exactly the same grim situation here in the UK, specifically in London. No Job, even If you call any recruitment agencies they are pushing you for the jobs available in the Middle East???? because of the fact that they dont have any openings here.
Moreover, in the Middle East, specially in Dubai, job markets has been saturated already by the strong influx of European job seekers and most of them are British??????
Situation is really very bad here for the HSMPians, as they are not permitted to go for any govt. benefits. although in their good times, they paid all of their taxes (usually 40% and high) but they find theirselves in tatters when they dont have jobs from 3-4 months and they cant claim any help.
This is not the right time to come to the UK. stay away for a while....

Though my question looks out of topic but it is indirectly related to what we are discussing here. I could see most of people advicing others not to come to uk for the next 3-4 months if we go by that won't our entry date get affected. What will happen in the immigration officer question you during your late entry.

its really irritating the way agencies speak to you..they say they are interested in your profile but most of the time speak about the other jobs you have applied for and the company details..its like enquiring more about other jobs you have applied for rather than talking about the job profile they have..
is this happening to all? what do u guys reply if they ask for where all you have applied...what r the company names..have u had any interviews....hw r u finding market..blah blah blah......

Always reply I have not applied for any other job. Irrespective of market condition, my answer will remain same.
Easy?

You can tell them youve just started hunting for a job , if theyve spoken to you earlier you can say that your cv has gone to couple of places and your waiting for feedback. If they do ask where its gone tell them its confidential.
