Can I put a Police Officer as referee for BC?

Hi All
I am about to finish my application form for BC via naturalisation. My non-UK passport is only valid for 2months after submission of application. Should I renew my passport first and update the form before submission?

Not necessary as the passport will be valid on the date application.

Hi

My ex colleague is now a police officer. I guess police officers are not considered to be employed by Home Office. Hence I can put his name.

Am I right?

Police officer is on the list of acceptet professions.
