How can my husband join me if we got married in 2022

Post by Moromu » Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:29 pm

Hi

I am a holder of pre-settlement status. I got married 2 months ago in Portugal. How can I apply for my wife to come to the UK to join me? We met in September 2020.

I think this visa is a good starting point. Take a look at the requirements and see if you can satisfy them.

The first meeting is irrelevant. What matters is the date on which the person became the family member of somebody with pre-settled status. In this case, it was the day they got married.

As the marriage took place after 31st December 2020, your spouse and you would need to meet the same requirements as the spouse of a British citizen; a Minimum Income Requirement of £18,600 p.a., the non-UK spouse to pass an authorised English speaking test at at least A1 on the CEFR scale and fees of about £3300 (approx £1500 for the fees and approx £1800 for the Immigration Health Surcharge).

One of the requirements is: you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply
We start living together in September 2021. Will he be refused ?

You must be able to prove one of the following:

you’re in a civil partnership or marriage that’s recognised in the UK
you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply

I have one more question. My husband will not work for a few months, I guess until he finds the job. I earn £36k. The form says that he needs to earn at least £18k how are we going to prove it if he doesn't have a job yet?

Once again, from the website:
You and your partner must have a combined income of at least £18,600 a year
So your 36k + 0 is still more than 18,600, if you adhere to the requirements.
Take your time reading the details and secret.simon's post where he perfectly summarized what you need and how much will it cost.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know what visa we should reply for? Name or form number?

I have one more question: Can I get the decision faster by using priority service or even super priority service for this specific visa application?

Thank you, I stack when I have to work out if my application will be: Priority Visa Service-Non Settlement or Priority Visa Service-Settlement. Which one is Family Visa?

Hello, what sort of documents do I need to prove that we have been living together for at leat 2 years?

I would like to bring my partner to the United Kingdom and apply for a Family Visa. I am EUSS, we are not married but we have been living together since October 2020. Thank you.
