I'm interested how fast they send you the passport card .It's been two+ weeks of "Passport Card is Printing " for me. Please post when it arrives too.

jgclancy
My family member's tracker got stuck on Passport Card is Printing so we never received an An Post tracking number for the Passport Book nor the Passport Card. The card arrived about two weeks after the book. The tracker is still stuck on Passport Card is Printing about a month after everything arrived. Keep an eye on your mail!

Hahaha--my passport book is stuck in the US postal system. It's been going from one distribution center to another for almost 3weeks now. JFK--Queens-Brooklyn-Manhattan-back to Brooklyn--back to Manhattan now! I did receive my documents back in which I missed the 1st delivery attempt but when I tried to use the USPS online redelivery thing it said my address didn't match the package (like I know what's exactly written on the package).I finally had my neighbor go to post office & get it for me.
Very frustrating---it's impossible to just call and say "Hey--what's happening?" The local postal branch
just sees what I can see in tracking too. All automated.
patience I guess

-Online application : 24/11/2021
-Tracking shows documents delivered: 10/12/2021
-Estimated issue date: 12/2/2022
-The Dreaded Further documents needed (Garda forgot to log Identity Verification Form): 10/1/2022
-New documents sent received by office (as confirmed by An Post): 11/1/2022

Tracker was still showing that documents weren't processed. Spoke to support 4 times over 3 weeks. First 2 times was asked to wait more for processing due to backlog, 3rd time support said they will ask the team to investigate if the document is lost, 4th time they confirmed that my application is back in process and there was an issue with the tracker which is why it's still showing that my documents are not received .

-New Estimated issue date: 10/4/2022 (as confirmed by the chat team since my tracker wasn't working)
-Status changed to "Printing": 3/3/2022
-Received the Passport: 4/3/2022
-Passport Card being printed: 4/3/2022

Definitely working faster now. I think I just applied at the worst time (just before Christmas and was asked to send further documents in mid-January at the peak of applications).
My advice is reach out to support via chat at exactly 9am Dublin time. Literally keep refreshing and eventually it'll turn green (I was able to reach out to them 4 times using this without fail).
Be polite and explain the situation. They can't do miracles but they can nudge things along. I think they have a ton of applications and sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. From what I know from friends who applied pre-pandemic, Passports issuing was always relatively quick and hassle free. We're just unlucky that they closed the Passport office last year.
If reaching out to the team caused them to purposefully delay applications, I would' still be waiting since I reached out literally ever 4-5 days after my issue happened until I got clarity on my documents.

I ended up receiving my passport a month and 10 days before the new estimated issue date (and about 2 weeks after the initial estimated issue date).

Good luck to everyone!
Received Passport Card: 8/3/2022 (status changed to passport card dispatched yesterday).

Today is 1 month past estimated issue date for my daughters first time passport application. Was just on chat with them they said documents are scanned and they are with verification team. They also said they can not escalate this, is it true that first time passport applications can not be escalated?

- Online application: 25/11/2021
- Documents sent: 26/11/2021
- Estimated issue date: 08/02/2022

I've just been on to them myself. I applied online on 23 September last year. Got the dreaded email to send in more ID, and my new date is today. All they could say on webchat is that everything looks good, and if there was an issue I would know by now. I reminded her that my application has now been in process for 6 months, but she said it's just a case of waiting.

G Dog, I was wondering about your case, mine was due yesterday, still in verifying stage, no change since they got the documents again back in December, witness hasn't been contacted either. Tracker went to 100% for about 8 hours yesterday now back to 60%. Funny that they say if you haven't been contacted by now everything is fine....We've heard that before...

I seriously wonder what does customer care do. Or what questions they can answer. Because they never know anything. All their answers are it's the verifying team. I have no access to it. I cannot see it. We cannot escalate. Oh yes, the tracker is not updated. Hopefully it will be soon. If they need anything else they will contact you

Basically all the answers I have been given every time I ask.

The passport application states to send your current passport if you have one from another country. With a 40 work day turn around time I can't be without my passport that long. Will they accept a copy or is there another way to go about this?

Photocopy your passport and have it certified by your witness.

Do they give you a tracking number? Do they inform you about the tracking number so I can locate it if it is on the way?

Wow that's fast! If you don't mind me asking, what was your path to citizenship - naturalisation, foreign birth? Trying to see if certain types of first time applicants are processed faster.

mine was via naturalisation. I dont think the type matters much, I think its a mix of luck and having the right paperwork (right on their understanding of right)

Hi all,

I don't seem to be having as much luck as some of you on this forum. Still waiting on anything back from the Passport department.

Timeline so far:

Online application : 01-08-2021
Tracking shows documents delivered: 29-11-2021 (delayed sending of docs for personal reasons)
Estimated issue date: 07-02-2022

Currently the tracker is still sat on Processing Application (14-03-2022)

I wanted to ask, is it usual to be left this long without even the return of your original documents? I'm English living in Germany, but I had to send in all my UK identification documents for this, and being without them for so long is starting to get problematic.
Ive tried contacting them twice via chat to stress ive been without my any kind of passport for months but not got further than being told my application had been passed on and id just have to wait.

Hi, the press state there are 113k applicants and not enough staff, I had an estimate of 24th February for a first time application and it’s only just started to be processed by someone in the office now I had everything delivered by the 17th December 21 and it just a resource issue. You just have to be patient and it will happen soon I’m sure. Good luck

It is very frustrating. Got two kids applications in at moment and still waiting with issue date of 26 January and been stuck at processing for more than a month. Been worried that may be an issue but not sure if passing the documents being verified is a good sign or not.

In December mine changed from verifying yo processing. About a week after that I was asked for more documents, and my estimated issue date changed to 8th March. Last week the status changed from verifying to processing again.

For the last few months I've been checking the online tracker several times a day for any news on progress. It hasn't been updated since 1520 yesterday....don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing
