Is it worth to send email and ask the status on application progress? no updates on the application yet applied 16/09/2020.
Apply for FOI that’s what I did and I just received my approval today , all the best :-)

Hi All,

I applied in Jan 2020. Received a request for additional documents in Jan 2021. Emailed in June 2021 asking for status. To date, they haven't responded to that email. In July 2021 I received a letter thanking me for sending documents in Jan, but then asking for basically the same documents again and a few extra. I sent what they requested the next day. In early October 2021, I received a document for e-vetting. I completed it and the e-vetting was completed and the disclosure viewed by immigration October 19th. No word since then.
I received approval in the mail today. 💃

HI All

I have been reading this forum for a year. It is a well of information !..I just wanted to contribute with my timeline:

• Applied on June 2020 / Irish Spouse stamp 4
• Letter asking for documents August 2020
• Letter stating application being processed October 2021
• Letter requesting Garda Vetting online. January 2022 / sent out the form but they never sent me a link to fill the vetting.
• Email sent to INIS asking how far along is my application/ answer “ is being processed “
* March 10th letter sent by solicitor FOI and first warning
* approval letter Thurs 10th March

I was absolutely fuming about the long wait. I had asked a solicitor and I was told to keep waiting , I was told this twice. After reading this forum I realized that people were requesting FOI’, asking their solicitors to send warning letters, JR and the rest. I was wondering why my own solicitor would not go for this but instead asked me to keep waiting and wasting my time.

I decided to go to a different solicitor, he is from Pakistan and the right off the bat struck me as someone who was proactive and understood how hard is to wait for an answer. He guaranteed me he will get my citizenship in 2 weeks or else before June 2022.

I went to him on Monday and that very day he requested the FOI which he go the next day. Today is Thursday and I have received my citizenship letter !!...
What I’m trying to say is that it does pay to spend money to get help to move your case forward, I know for a fact now that my case was sleeping on someone’s desk. I had sent an email on January asking INIS to tell me how far along was my file, they replied just 2 weeks ago telling me “still processing “.
It seems that had I not got my solicitor to ask for FOI and warned about JR I could have still been waiting until June 2022..
A few extra points:
I have been in the country 11 years.
NB : I was asked for the garda vetting never go the link and still got my approval .
Thank you for sharing this! My case is exactly the same as you except that i applied in March 2020.
Do you mind sharing the solicitor details as well.

Being in the country for 11 years, could you not have applied sooner? I applied soon after I was eligible. Feb 2020 submitted everything, got approved March 2022. It's a two year wait, usually, so that's what I expected. It never crossed my mind to get a solicitor, as I was aware of my eligibility and wait time. I wasn't always this way, but I suppose living in Ireland long enough, I have built somewhat of the "it's grand" mentality.

Also, I'm confused. He sent the FOI on the 10th and you got approved the same day? Either way, congratulations.

I sent on my police report from abroad last week and hopefully will get a decision soon.

Congrats to those who got them.

I applied in June 2020. No second letter. Received approval today. Keep the faith
Congratulations and thanks for giving us some hope! The silence has been quite depressing to be honest especially knowing that getting the passport is going to be another 3 or 4 months even.
To be honest, knowing that I am a step away from becoming Irish is more important to me than applying for the passport. So I made sure to pay the €950 and and got my declaration of fidelity filled and stamped. Haven't received the certificate of naturalisation yet but when I do, I will take it easy. If I have waited 16 months for a letter from the Minister proposing to grant citizenship, 3 months wait for a passport is defo nothing. Probably won't be even a month wait as they are getting extra staffs to help speed things up. Keep the faith. This forum has been extremely useful to me.

You can always ask your TD to write to Minister on your behalf, if you feel like it's been too long but you don't want to go for a JR/etc yet.

As people on the forums say, if your case is being processed for 2 years, that's considered long enough for a judge to issue a Mandamus (i.e. say to ISD they have to give you a decision) - post2020380.html#p2020380. I have no experience with JR and don't have definite answers, sorry.

unfortunately, if you write to Justice Minister, she'll tell you that has been forwarded to the Citizenship team and will receive a standard copy and paste. . all the other requesting status/update/decision of your application emails are never going past the Citizenship ServiceDesk but there's no harm in trying.

I wrote to the minister and also called a few solicitors. Many advised to wait and 2 solicitors happy to write a warning letter but the price for just a letter + consultation is more the eur500. Did not know they are quite pricey.

My application is almost at 24 months mark. I will wait for another week and if nothing I will go for the solicitor.

You can start even now with an FOI request, just to see what's going on with it, it's free and can be done without any specialist knowledge

Already done last month and I should be getting FOI by email tomorrow. Last year I did in Nov and got FOI saying "processing".

Email sent to dpt and on Monday got a reply stating "still processing". So dissappointed.

Hope you will! If they can't even give access to your data in time, something is not right on one of the sides.

Even if you pay 500 eurs and sent warning letter, they don't give any responsed or could come back to you with response will decline decision within 12 week, i have seen many people receive the 12 week reply from the Dept. and even after those 12 weeks are over they didn't receive a reply. this is exactly what happened in my case,

so, My solicitors recommend a Judicial Review and he is very confident we will win.

I can understand your frustration because I am in the same boat, as it was never about the money but I feel is seriously disgusting and disgraceful if I compel the department to issue a decision through out Judicial review.

Is it the first time or second time you applied for FOI?

I hope you’ll get your approval/certificate soon or the certificate in June ceremony!!
