Break in employment

Post by Theor1890 » Sun Mar 27, 2022 9:07 pm

Hello everyone,

I am currently on Tier 2 visa for the NHS expiring on 19th June 2022. My next job as a doctor in training is to start on August 1st. Hence I will have a gap of 6 weeks/45 days between my two jobs. Note that I will not be having a valid BRP thorough this period.

I have two questions

1. Will this affect my ILR? Because there is a gap without a valid BRP.

2. Can I stay in the UK during this period of 6 weeks?

Many thanks.

You cannot stay in the UK if you do not have a valid visa.

The employmney gap is not an issue, having a valid visa is.

You will need to apply for the skilled worker visa for your new job before 19th June 2022. Application can be made up to 3 months before job start date on CoS. Talk to HR and they should know the procedure.

I have question on this note. Apologies for posting it here. I am on 3 years Tier 2 visa and my current visa is valid till 14 Jul 2022 but I am planning to change jobs and going for new visa with new employer. my 3 months notice period ends on 30 Jun 2022 and new job starts on 4 Jul. If my new visa starts on 4 Jul, will there be problem for the ILR

thanks
