Indian Tourist Visa for recent Naturalised UK citizen - Is surrender certificate required while applying Indian visa?

I am naturalised UK Citizen. Got my British Passport around a week. I am yet to surrender my Indian Passport (no appointment available in next one month).

I need to travel to India after 4 weeks from now and hence, applying for India tourist visa (applying paper visa, as eVisa is not available in UK).

Do I need India passport surrender certificate while applying for Indian Tourist visa? Anybody who has been in similar status and recently applied for Indian Visa – kindly share your experience.
