Method of verifying COS reference number

Dear members,
Is there any way I can verify the COS reference number (provided by employer solicitor) in UKVI before making an application.

Thanks for your reply. Just wanted to make sure the COS ref. is valid. I believe if the reference is not a valid/correct one the online application won't go ahead in the first place.
