Child Benefits and Tax Credits for ILR holder

Post by rza22 » Fri May 06, 2022 12:36 am

In a family (living at the same address) where:
(1) Main applicant has got ILR from T2 General, (2) Wife and Child-1 have applied for ILR from T2 dependent and the applications are under process, (3) UK born Child-2 has applied for British Citizenship and the application is under process.

Can the main applicant claim for Child Benefit and Tax Credits for both Childs?

Will this have any implication on the British Citizenship application of the main applicant, wife and child1 in future?

The Tax Credit welfare benefit has ended. New claimiants apply for it's replacement, Universal Credit. Existing claimants to be moved off Tax Credits by 2024.

With a spouse and child with No Recourse to Public Funds, you might want to read all the links in this sticky, so avoid breaching their visa condidtions with Public Funds

Managed move of claimants to Universal Credit set to restart.

"The process will resume on 9 May and will be carefully managed. Claimants will gradually be notified of when they will be asked to move to Universal Credit so as to complete the process by 2024."

Although that sticky started off as just about the Universal Credit welfare benefit (that's why it has that title) it now includes linlks about claiming other welfare benefit and about claiming when a partner or child is No Recourse to Public Funds.

You can also scroll down to the relevant part on this from the Citizens Advice.
