IRP Renewal Timeline & Travel with Single Entry Visa instead of IRP?

Post by yuki_vm » Wed May 11, 2022 2:31 pm

hoping to get an idea of the actual processing time for the IRP card... and also a question about the single/multi-entry visa for the traveling purpose (an option considering if not able to get the IRP card on time...)
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your help here. :D

I applied for my IRP card on the 22nd, April and received the acknowledge e-mail on the same day.
1st time application from Stamp 1 to Stamp 4.
I phoned the immigration service earlier to ask about the processing time and they told me it's about 8-9 weeks. Anyone who applied around Feb or March Could share your timeline, please?

I heard some horrendous stories that someone received the card in 3 months or even more. If that's the case for me too, I wouldn't be able to make my flight(within the EU) on 15th, July. so I am thinking if a single/multi-entry visa is an option? Can I apply for it even though I am no longer a student?

You can try to apply to re-entry visa inside Ireland. If you apply from out of Ireland then it will take way too long, like 10 weeks+ to get any kind of visa that will let you enter Ireland.

See thread below on how to get a re-entry visa. Just keep in mind that the visa can be issued for those who need to travel urgently only. It’s less likely that they will accommodate other situations but there is no harm trying.

I was looking at the requirements for a re-entry visa. Either the reason of 'Tourist' or 'Work' doesn't seem to apply to me... For the 'Work' reason, a work permit has been provided but my current work permit will expire in mid-June

That’s what I was thinking, it only makes sense that they would only issue the visa to someone need to travel urgently. By any chance, do you happen to know if it affect the boarding when I am flying out? As far as I know, it’s only needed when flying back. Thanks

If you don't receive your IRP card 2 weeks before your intended travel date, you can go to Burgh Quay to try to apply for a visa there.

You do not need an Irish visa to fly out.

That's so bad, I am sorry to hear that. May I ask what additional documents they required? Thanks
