I found this info: there were 16,000 applications in 2020 and 11,000 in 2021.
Sent off for daughter in December 2020 so suppose I can hope the bulk of the applications were sent early in the year and things might speed up a bit later on.

I hope so. January 2020 seems to have taken an age to process. I think FBR was only open approximately 7 months in 2020 and 1.5 months in 2021 by my back of the beer at calculations. I submitted my application in July 2021 but could only submit docs by Dec 2021 due to the closure. I am really hoping that Dec 2023 isn't how long I need to wait.... However going by the reality of other folks waiting time I think it's highly possible
Your position in the queue is based off when your documents are received rather than when the online application is submitted. However, One would hope for the future applicants that they are able to clear the majority of the backlog by end of this year and potentially at some point go back to the 12 - 18 months timeline, rather than 2+ years. I believe when I submitted my application in mid Feb 2020, the timeline was listed as 9 -12 months, then 12 - 18 and then eventually 2 years due to the closures. I'm a few days away from 27 months and ready for this process to be over.
27 months is so long. I feel for you. I know they are going by docs received date and I think my application counting the July application dates will be similar in length to yours. Hopefully you should hear back soon, it must feel good to know you are nearing the front of the queue.
Interestingly the DFA website changed in Feb 2022 to say 12 to 18 months on one part but then quotes 2 years on another!
I noticed that as well, the 12 -18 months. But that website is a mess. On one page it says click here to submit a query to the FBR, when you click it, it takes you to the same old page of the urgent inquiries phone number for pregnant women. Inconsistencies all over that site.
I am hoping I'm close, but who knows, as there's no way to contact them, no any updates from FBR. I was hoping to have the cert by summer, now I'm not so sure. This has taken so long that I'm afraid the cert will be sent when I'm not even at home (as it overlaps with a pretty long vacation we're taking once schools get out).
There's a good chance at this point, I will not be there to sign for the cert when it arrives. Hoping the tracking is good enough that I can have a relative come over on the day and sign for it. We'll see!
