Covid effect on citizenship processing time

Post by chaikhosi » Sun May 22, 2022 11:57 am

Just wondering if the roughly 2 years of processing time i can see reported here for naturalisation applications is a lingering effect of Covid on the civil service's work, which we might hope to see coming down as they clear the backlog, or if it's always been like that and not likely ever to get better? Best of luck to everyone anyway.

If you want to be positive, sure it will shorten the application times, if you want to be realistic no it won't. There are few applicants from January and February 2021 that got approval already, which makes it 15 months. But there are applications waiting since 2019, so there is nothing set on stone.

There are plenty of factors that we don't know that has impact on the process, the workload, Covid, the person on your case, your residence history. Even thou you think all is straight forward there might be something that can cause your application to get processed longer.

So just apply and keep waiting.
