Planning a visit to Spain

Post by prince_capri » Tue Nov 11, 2008 8:46 pm

Hiya,

I should (hopefully) soon be receiving my Tier 1 PSW visa. Now my gf lives in Spain, and I want to see her as soon as I can, as I haven't seen her for a month now.

From reading other posts, what I have gathered is that its difficult to get to Spanish Embassy for a quick turnaround for a visa. As an alternative option, I think I can plan a quick 1/2 day trip to France (Paris/Grenoble/La Rochelle/Caen..I have friends here) or to Netherlands (Hague). So is it quicker to get a visa (Schengen) for one of these countries and then go to Spain maybe in 2-3 weeks time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Any idea on this please?

I got my Tier 1 PSW visa today, so I want to sort out a trip to Spain as soon as possible really.

Thanks!

You would have to be issued with a multiple entry schengen visa.
You may not get an appointment at short notice from the French Embassy.

Cheers for the reply Casa. I will try and get in touch with French Embassy.

I think another thing that's been bugging me is the fact that I have these trips planned in the near future:

b/w now and before 18th Dec: Weekend trip to Paris
20th to 28th Dec: Week trip to Spain, to see gf.
24th Jan to 7th Feb: Couple of weeks in India
13th Feb to 15th Feb: Long weekend trip to Paris for Valentines day with gf.

Now is there any way to inform French Embassy of the future trip as well, so that I can get a 6-month multiple entry visa? Its just that when I come back from India, I wont have anytime at all to apply for another visa, and also, I definitely need one for Spain too.

Thanks!

First one is nearly always a single entry short term, even from the lenient French, but YMMV.

YMMV?

Cheers though Wanderer.

Seems now I have decided to go for the Spanish visa instead, shall worry about the Feb trip later.

Now if anyone can tell me, is there any way to sort out the appointment and everything myself (keeping in mind that I wish to fly out on 20th Dev for a week) or should I go through one of the numerous organisations which charge £100 odd for their services.

It really is a question of time now, any help would be greatly appreciated, as Im struggling a lot with all this stuff.

Thanks!

Bear in mind that the Spanish embassy usually issue the visa 7 days after the appointment...and then there's no guarantee it will be ready. My husband was going to Spain for a wedding, time was tight...he'd waited 3 months for the 1st available appointment. He was told to return 7 days later when they 'guaranteed' it would be ready for collection due to the
circumstances, and when he arrived it hadn't been processed. Gave him the 'like it or lump it' response and told him to come back again in 2 days.
Several others in the queue in the same situation. :(

Cheers Casa.

I think I am being dragged back to the French visa option. Spoken to gf, and she agrees that going to Paris would be more interesting than seeing her in Spain, so I will just apply for a multiple entry French visa (if possible). Then we'll see from there.

I noticed in my passport I did have a Spanish Schengen visa, which I got for November in 2003. But I never used it as my uncle (who I was supposed to accompany) fell gravely ill. But yea, hopefully the French embassy would be lenient and provide me with a long enough visa to cover both weekend trip and V-day trip.

Need to speak to some agents tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.

Well, the issue is that Im working up in Birmingham, and haven't really got much time/resourses to travel to London (esp if its more than one trip). But I will look on the consulate's website for dates.

Well, I got my French visa today, and will be going to Paris this weekend, hopefully.

However, gf n I broke up, so guess Spanish trip is out of the question :D

Oh the irony.
