Need info on PBS dependent Visa

Post by vrastogi » Tue Jul 26, 2022 12:28 pm

Hi All,

I am on Skilled worker visa and my family is on pbs dependent visa. I planning to switch job.
My new employer says that they can process only my visa as main applicant not my dependents.
Is there any way that I can sponsor my dependents?
Please advise me.
Thanks and Regards,

Skilled Worker dependants don't need to have their own sponsors, only the main applicant does. If you change your skilled worker job your dependants can continue staying in the UK on their current PBS dependant visas but should apply to extend them before expiry.

Thanks a lot @manci for providing kind information. In that case, I have one more question. My dependent has BRP validity till 2025. So I no need to process their visa, in that case. So I can apply for their ILR as soon as 5 year cycle completes on same PBS dependent visa. Please let me know it will be great help.
Thanks and Regards,

correct, they don't need to extend their PBS dependant visas before the BRPs expire .

correct but only provided you will apply for ILR at the same time yourself or have obtained ILR or citizenship some time before then

Gov.UK says - https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/ ... r-employer

"Your partner or children will need to apply separately to update their visa. They can either apply at the same time as you, or at any time before their current visa expires."

Hi @manci and @sks_abbas,

Thanks a lot for kind information. It is really a great help.
I have one more query, If I apply for ILR after completing 5 years, Is it possible that my PBS dependents( Partner and kids) can also apply for ILR. What is the advisable process to get ILR for dependents?

Thanks and Regards,
