If she's a visa national, she'll need a visa to enter Ireland first and with that visa she'd need to apply for a long-term permit (IRP) and wait for the outcome. Visa takes a while (see https://www.irishimmigration.ie/visa-decisions/ for a bit more specific timelines) plus you'd need to make an appointment in Burgh Quay, attend it and wait for the card (might take months as well).
Possibly, but we're not allowed to post links/references to solicitors here. You shouldn't trust me (a random lad form the internet) about which advisor is the best, y'know.riverbank wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 6:58 pmWould it be worth engaging with an immigration specialist / Lawyer as this person might be able to spell out what my options are. If I got good advice, I would be happy to pay for it, but I would not know who to ask. Then we could make an educated decision.
Even if you have a baby, it would still take 6 months (visa processing). I know an Irish woman (but of Indian origin) who got married to an Indian citizen (non-EU). It was an arranged marriage. She even had a baby in Ireland (of course she was in India for few months when she got pregnant but decided to have the baby in Ireland as her indian family lives in Ireland). It is again an indian ritual for her to have the baby in her mother's house. I think their marriage too was registered in India. Once he applied for visa to join spouse. His application was processed within 6 months. Now since arranged marriages are common in India, it could have been the reason why it was accepted easily.riverbank wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 12:02 amThanks for the replies.
@meself2. Your link was very informative. For our category it looks like a 6 month wait for a visa application to be processed. I assume there are no circumstances where a spouse could live in Ireland while waiting for the decision? Unfortunately, my friend's occupation is not on the critical skills list.
If anyone can answer this question, feel free. If we got married and my wife became pregnant while still living abroad (Schengen zone) would that influence a visa application positively, negatively or make no difference? If she could move to Ireland, it would be our intention to try for a baby.
