PBS Dependant visa extension when the main applicant has reached citizenship

Post by mm99 » Sun Oct 30, 2022 8:41 pm

Hi all,
First of all a huge thank you to the moderators and members for the wealth of information on this forum.

Background:
I got my ILR in 2019 and then citizenship in January 2020 through tier 2 general visa. I got married in March 2018 and brought my wife to the UK on PBS dependent visa in June 2018. She got visa for around 1.5 year as my tier 2 was expiring in Nov 2019. In December 2019, I got my ILR and extended her visa for another 3 years (Nov 2022). I got my citizenship in 2020.

Upto this point she has spent around 4.5 years on PBS dependent visa so I have to extend her visa again so she can complete her 5 years and qualify for ILR.
I am looking for some guidance on the following points.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.

1. I understand I have to apply for skilled worked dependent visa since there is no PBS dependent visa category any more ?

2. The correct link to apply for this is the one below ?
https://apply-to-visit-or-stay-in-the-u ... anner=true

3. Whats the minimum balance I have to show that we can support her financially please? it used to be £630 for 90 days if I recall correctly.

4. I have to pay 3xIHS fee regarless of the fact that she will be eligible for ILR in June next year ?

many thanks !

1. Correct

2. Not sure as the link you posted doesn't state what visa category it is so don't know where you got it from.

3. There isn't a maintenance fund requirement anymore as far as I am aware.

4. Yes, she will get a 3 year visa so you have to pay 3 years IHS.

Thanks a lot for confirming the visa type !

The link I shared was the one I got when I clicked on "extend or switch to your Skilled Worker visa as your partner" under the "Apply from inside the UK (extend or switch their visa)" section on the page below.
https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/ ... d-children

It also states that the dependant will need GWF of the main applicants application ? should I provide the one I got when I applied for my Tier 2 General visa please ?

It also states following:
Money they need to support themselves
Your partner and children must have a certain amount of money available to support themselves while they’re in the UK.

You - or your partner or child - will need:

£285 for your partner
£315 for one child
£200 for each additional child

Example
You - or your partner or child - would need to have £600 to bring your partner and one child with you to the UK (£285 for your partner and £315 for your child).
