I had contacted UKVI a while back too, and they finally responded with just:
Thank you for contacting UK Visas and Immigration. To enter the UK, your passport at least has to be valid for 6 months or over.
not sure if this is correct???
as I told them I have an Indian passport and UK ILR - and will be heading to India in few weeks with 8 months left on my passport and return in Dec2022 with over 7 months left on my indian passport (want to renew in london in jan2023 as it expires 6 months post that) - but as I have UK ILR already, I was thinking my passport min. validity does not matter as ILR is valid?

I would be careful with taking UKVI helpline advice as correct. They did not take account of your residency status!
