Question on Naturalisation application

Post by kamsi » Sat Nov 19, 2022 12:18 pm

I’m currently on 10 year route to settlement. I’m eligible for ILR in April 2023.

My partner and children are British citizens. My partner and I have been planning to get married but this was put on hold due to Covid pandemic as we would want family members to be present some of whom would be coming from abroad.

My question is: If I get ILR before we get married would I be able to make a naturalisation application before completing 12 months on ILR? Does the immigration rule expect the marriage to have happened before I get ILR for me to be eligible to apply for naturalisation without having to wait 12 months?

No. If you are not married to a British Citizen, you have to wait 12 months.

No. You simply don't have to wait 12 months if you marry a British citizen at ANY point.
