HNY folks!

I'm just hovering about the forum waiting for the trickle of Congrats emails to come in for the last few folks who had their address checks pre-Xmas.

As you can tell, I'm pretty patient and chilled about it all
I'm hoping to hear back about my application this month. Last address check I saw on here was last month and it was a December 2021 application. I'm a January 2022 applicant so really hoping this month is the month.

Same.

I got an email acknowledging receipt of my documentation from Balbriggan on 14/12/21.

I told myself that I wouldn’t hear anything further until December 2023, but some of the recent posts have got my hopes up.

Hopefully we’ll hear something in the coming days or weeks.

Then the next challenge is the passport application process!

Oh my, what a coincidence!!! I received my address confirmation email today.

Admittedly it does say my application is not guaranteed at this point, but I’m reasonably confident I won’t have any issues.

Mine said the same. Maybe we are part of the group where they do the address confirmations first and then do the approvals?

I am still checking my Inbox like a mad person waiting for further communications :D

Seeing the wait time between address confirmation and congrats email makes me nervous lol. I'm missing my mothers state ID due to estrangement so the wait is going to be agonising. Saw 2 people very recently get approved in the same predicament as me but eeeeeee

I am sure it will be fine Valo, but I understand your nervousness. My Irish grandad died before I was born and I am like "what if I have got the wrong blokes birth certifcate"?!

Sorry to hear about your estrangement. I also have a complicated family situation so I know how difficult it is. I am going to cheer really loudly when yours comes through.

Thanks! In theory it should be all okay as my situation isn't too different to two other people I have spoken to who got recent approvals. One of them on here and the other elsewhere. Both estranged from their parent. My grandparent is actually still alive so I have both my state ID and their state ID. Just missing the parents state ID.

Ooo had almost forgotten about this. Had my confirmation of entry one calendar month after receiving my address confirmation. The email came from noreply@dfat.ie if anyone wants to add to safe senders list.

Application submitted online: 29 Apr 2021
Docs received mail: mid June 2021
Request to confirm address: 05 Dec 2022
Confirmation of entry to FBR: 05 Jan 2023
Certificate received:

My kids received their certificates today, just updating the timeline. All documents returned except one, not an important one, just one relating to a name change for me. Oh well. Would rather have their FBRs than that document back any day, I won't complain lol!

Online application Mar 03 2021
Documents Mailed Mar 11 2021 (Canada)
Tracking received Balbriggan Mar 25 2021
No acknowledgement of receipt
Email requesting (non-existent) document for both children Dec 01 2022
Congratulations email for both Dec 19 2022
Certificates received (Canada) Jan 05 2023

Just for the record - one kid became an adult 2mths after submitting (I did it for the fee saving), no big deal and no new fee to pay. Just asked if he wanted to represent himself as an adult, or have me continue with his application. Simple.

Also asked for non-existent marriage certificate. If you're not married and never have been, maybe send a statement to that effect for clarity, but no big deal really. They emailed, I explained, they accepted.

Confirming that there are indeed photos on the certificates. They look like an afterthought in a bad text box, but they are there and embossed with a seal.

Kids thrilled, planning passports next!

Wish I had access to that FB group as I know which one you are talking about. Don't have FB though so.

That is thrilling to hear though. January 12th my docs were received. I'm so nervous.

Application submitted online: 03 Dec 2020
Documents recieved: 18 Dec 2020

Email requesting a document & address confirmation: 16/11/2022

Email confirming acceptance of documentation in place if parental ID. Address confirmation (again) 5/1/2023

I had from the start been very sceptical but there has seemed to be no issues.

At least there is less ambiguity now with what is officially required & acceptable for people in our situation. Lucky for you, you had the common sense to just send it before they ask :D

As someone who had the documents received email in late Dec-2021, I've been watching this thread and my emails like a hawk this past few weeks - finally got my address check email this morning and have updated the sheet.

Docs received: 23-Dec-2021
Address check: 6-Jan-2023

I’m based in UK and we had postal strikes over Christmas period, so I think it might have caused a bit of delay to approval and printing. But this is just me guessing

Aaaand today they said I need to send them my mom's original marriage certificate, my marriage certificate, and an "updated" birth certificate.

1) I had sent in my mother's divorce certificate because my instructions say "original civil marriage certificate OR other change of name document."
2) I didn't send in my marriage certificate because I thought that only applied if my name had changed ("original marriage certificate (if applicable) OR other change of name document")
3) My original 1970s birth certificate is perfectly legible, so not sure why that isn't acceptable. Thankfully the lady said she'd accept the 2005-printed version I have (I scanned a pdf for her to look at). Has anyone else had to send an "updated" birth certificate?

I'm hoping this is ALL that is needed now, which would be a nice silver lining. My grandfather's birth wasn't even officially recorded at his birth so I had to get that done in 2020! Hoping I'll be a citizen by the time St. Patrick's Day is here.
