Absence from UK - Naturalisation

Post by Krish9 » Thu Jan 12, 2023 3:05 pm

Helo All,

My wife has just received ILR set(M) and was thinking of applying for Naturalisation soon, as she is partner of British Citizen(me), so my question was about the absence from UK for more then 270 days, will this impact our application, as she was away for more then a 300 days in last 3 years.

reg:
Time you’ve spent outside the UK
To be eligible, you should not have:
spent more than 270 days outside the UK during the 3 years before your application
spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 month

Thanks
Krish

How many days exactly in the 3 years and the last 12 months?

There is also a mandatory requirement that she must have been physically present in the uk exactly 3 years ago when she applies and pays online.

Thanks for quick response @CR001

around 450 days:

13 Dec 2020 to 4 March 2022(446 days) - Due to her father health issues/brother marriage.

Thanks

That's quite substantial over the limit. 300 days would generally probably be OK but well over 400 unlikely.

OK, thanks. So only option is to wait for 2 years and then apply, as the other option of waiting for 12 months, also have 470 days in 5 years.

Thanks
Krish
