Yep, I've held off posting a FBR application because of the strikes, then Royal Mail gets hit by a cyber 'incident'.

Could always get the ferry to post lol

Congrats!

I had my address confirmation on the 9th of Jan for a 12th of Jan 2022 application. Replied to it and nothing since. I've not had a congrats email yet. I'm estranged from my mother so couldn't provide her state ID. So the wait is extra anxiety inducing.

Wow, under a year! what a difference a year makes! At this time last year, they were working on June to September 2019 applications. Congrats!

Hi all!

I am probably worrying for no reason but have just had a look at the documents I sent and noticed there is a slight discrepancy.

On my Irish grandma’s birth certificate, it says her mother’s name was Maggie whereas on the marriage certificate it says Margaret. All other details seem to match up though. Has anyone had similar discrepancies and still got accepted? Or should I prepare for them to ask about it when they get round to my application?

I am a Sept 2022 applicant so still a long wait for me but want to be prepared. Also I am so thankful for this forum and am following it pretty much every day. Best of luck to everyone 8)

Thank you :D

My grandmother was Rosanna but went by Rose for most her life. All her US documents like her Death Certificate say Rose. I was a little worried, but it never came up. I was approved. I think they realize people often go by shortened versions of their name, such as what you mentioned. I bet it won’t even come up.

For those that have received a congratulatory email, but have yet to receive their certificate, are you still able to apply for a passport?

Also I believe there is a form FBR citizens need to send off to Dublin after their online passport application. Can anyone share this with me? I can’t find it, but I want to get it filled in and signed by the appropriate people in advance.

Heard nothing back since the address check on 19th December on what should be a very simple application. It's a bit strange when some people get their address check and congrats almost straight away and then the mind games start, did they get my email? Shall I email again? What if I annoy them by emailing them again? :-)

I asked my witness yesterday if he had been contacted by them, and he said he's received nothing. I figured post address confirmation they'd contact the witness if they're dealing with the application. I know I sound a tad impatient but being estranged from your mother being unable to provide a copy of their state ID makes the wait that little bit more anxiety inducing. Really hoping I don't have to wait close to a month. I'll genuinely lose my sanity.

Ilikefrogs,

I think you could apply online for a passport it you have a photo within the last 6 months, valid email and debit/credit card.

https://passportonline.dfa.ie/Apply/Passport

The fourth question is where you live, the fifth is your citizenship category (FBR!).

Then at the end of this process all the appropriate forms you need to fill out will be revealed to you.
This will include an instruction to provide the FBR Cert.

One can make dummy runs at this application and see the questions coming up!

All the Best, Martini

Ilikefrogs,

another thing yesterday I used the web chat on ( https://www.dfa.ie/passports/contact/ )

Got an excellent agent in 1 minute and you can discuss your future application.
The lady even 'navigated' me to the FBR question on the online application.

Got my confirmation of address email on the 14th Dec, and have heard nothing since! Starting to get a little anxious about it, I won't lie. I wonder what's taking so long!

More than likely it's just due to the holidays and vacations etc.

Like FBR, passport application (at least using the online passport application process) is a 2 step process. First you fill out the application online, upload the picture and pay the fee. Second you mail your documents to Dublin.

So assuming you can use the online application, you can apply after the congrats email but you will need to wait for the actual cert to send the evidence.

Today, my two children received their emails asking for address confirmations. They mailed shared documents for their two applications in one envelope. No guarantee of successful application is promised for either one; do they always say that?

Recently many people have received this type of address confirmation. Seems as though the changed the process a few months back. They used to do the address confirmation as the last step, but it seems now they do it at the beginning or middle of the process. The good news is, it means they are now working on your children's applications. So shouldn't be long now.

That's fantastic news, your docs rec'd date is the same as mine, but no news for me just yet. After Whiskeypause's post on Thursday (docs rec'd 26 Jan 22) I was on tenterhooks every time my email pinged yesterday. Fingers crossed for Monday, unless anyone knows if the FBR is working overtime this weekend  ?

Yep, I had to send some extra docs over and then the Xmas period held it up as well.
