E-Visa without surrender of Indian Passport

Post by rancho » Mon Jan 02, 2023 8:49 am

Hi all,

Apologies if this question was already posted.

I am now a British citizen (via naturalisation) and planning to apply for E-Visa to India since I don't have time to surrender my Indian Passport.

A) Hope it's fine to apply E-Visa without surrendering Indian passport

B) For the question in the online form
Any other valid Passport/Identity Certificate(IC) held - Should I enter Yes/No for this? I have validity on Indian passport till 2027.

Please advise.

Hi Moderators / Experts,

I am exactly in the same situation.

Could you please advise if Surrendering the Indian Passport is mandatory before obtaining the Indian e-visa?

Also, is it required to carry a copy of the Surrender Certificate and Cancelled Indian Passport when travelling to India on e-visa?

Many Thanks.

Hi rancho,

Please could I request you to respond to my queries related to the Indian e-Visa.

What did you answer for the following questions as you have not surrendered your Indian Passport yet?

* Any other valid Passport / Identity Certificate held?

* Have you ever visited India before?

Is the process completely online or is it required to submit hard copy of application form / book VFS appointment for Biometrics etc.?

What documents did you upload in support of your visa application?

How long is your e-visa valid for?

Many Thanks.

Hi rancho,

Could I please request you to answer my queries below regarding the e-Tourist visa?

* Any other valid Passport / Identity Certificate held? I have not surrendered my Indian Passport yet after acquiring the British Passport and the Indian Passport still has validity.

* Have you ever visited India before? I have visited India before but as an Indian Citizen and not on an Indian visa.

* Citizenship Number? Is this applicable for British citizens?

Many Thanks
