Can a UK child of immigrant be put up for adoption

Post by afrayling » Thu Apr 06, 2023 12:34 pm

An immigrant mother whose student visa has expired with son born to British Citizen, therefor son is also a British Citizen.

If the mother is or may be removed (no financial resources) can she put the child up for adoption in UK first?

What about the child’s father?

He wants nothing to do with the child, but if he was registered as father, can he insist in any way that the child is put up for adoption before mother has to go back to India. He is a British Citizen.

If he was married to the mother, then his name would be put on the birth certificate, even if he was not the biological father of that child.

He can't take the baby away from the mother and put it up for adoption because he doesn't want the baby and doesn't want the mother to have the baby either! Did he not know how a baby is created? He is also liable for maintenance for that child until they reach age 18.
