Have made application for British Citizenship - okay to renew passport?

Hi everyone

My wife's Pakistani passport is due to expire soon, we have made the application for her British Citizenship, is it okay to renew her passport? The biometric appointment is nearer the end of this month and I was wanting to apply for passport renewal asap.

Would this create any issues?

Hello

For now, she is a Pakistani national and should continue acting as such. There is no reason why she shouldn't renew her passport.

The mere submission of a naturalisation citizenship doesn't change anything at this stage.

I am unsure about the following:

We applied using her current passport so if we renew it then her new passport will become her new current one and different from the one we applied with. We would need to apply for renewal before her biometric appointment. Would this be an issue?

That's not an issue - the application was submitted with a current passport - renewing it during the process doesn't change anything. It's not a material change to circumstances. This happens frequently.
