Knowing status of ILR

I am the lead applicant for my family, my family still has to make ILR application.
My situation is as follows:
1. My family (wife and 1st child, born outside UK) have completed 5 years and 2 months of stay in the UK. They currently have a dependent visa in the UK until 2024 December.
2. My 2nd child was born in the UK before I got ILR. Now this child is 3 years old and also has dependent visa in the UK until 2024 December.
3. I received ILR in April 2022 and will complete 1 year of stay in 2023 April. So I should be eligible for starting the British passport application next year.

My options are as follows:
1. Need to apply for ILR application for my family.
2. Need to apply for British passport for myself.

I request suggestions on my questions:
1. Can I apply for British passport for my both kids in 2023 as I will begin the process for myself?
2. If I cannot do their naturalization application, what options do I have for getting them a settled status in the UK?
3. My family have a foreign passport which will expire in 2024. If I apply for their ILR now, will I have to renew the ILR again later?
4. My fourth question is not related to immigration. Can I apply for child benefit in the current situation as I have ILR for myself.

No. You have to apply to REGISTER the UK born child before you can apply for a passport. Your child born abroad, will follow the same path as your spouse and must apply for ILR first. You could have applied for British Citizenship for your UK born child as soon as you got ILR.

Born abroad child applies for ILR when the other parent does.

No!

2. Yes for ilr if they meet the requirements. Your UK born child can apply now .

Your original question was

The answer to that is that neither of your children can apply for a British passport right now as they are not British citizens.

As CR001 advised above, your UK-born second child is entitled to register as a British citizen right now and you can apply for that on their behalf. After you have received their registration certificate, you can apply for their British passport.

The applications and processes for British citizenship and British passports are separate. Differentiate between the two.

Re your wife and first born child, have they completed five years residence in the UK in the same category? If they changed categories midway through their stay, their ILR clock may well have restarted from zero.

Thank you for your reply. I checked your message today, was unable to check.
1. I understand clearly the suggestion for my UK born child now. I am now applying British citizenship for the UK born and will apply for british citizenship later on. I think the process is straight forward, please let me know if I missed anything.

2. Regarding my wife and 1st child (born in India), they have completed 5 years and 4 months of stay in the UK. Regarding the category, their BRP has mentioned the Type of Permit as follows

• "PBS dependent" from 21st September 2017 to 14 September 2021.

• "Dependent Partner/Child" from 21st May 2021 to 19 May 2022.

• "Dependent Partner/Child" from 6th June 2022 to 31 Dec 2024.

What visa category exactly did you apply for in june 2022? Did they apply for a pbs dependent extension?

Note that all brps expire on 31st December 2024 as they are being phased out.

Yes in June 2022, the extension was done as "PBS, Start-up, Innovator or Global Talent dependant partner".
I have got ILR (global talent Tier 1 visa) in the form of BRP but that also puts an expiry date as 31st December 2024.

Previously I had Tier 2 (General) visa from September 2017 to May 2021. Then I got global talent visa from May 2021 till May 2022. After May 2022, I got ILR.
In all this period, my family was applying as dependent.

But recently, I need to make an urgent travel and I need my BRP card for the same purpose. I was wondering if there is some way to know the status of the ILR application? Can we make a request to the Home office for an expedite support (given that already 3 months are about to pass from the date of fingerprint appointment).

You may request for this however there is no guarantee it will be expedited.
You have not stated what the urgency is; some may be considered while others reason will be disregarded.
