Question on maintenance fund doc - 7 day period

Post by R053992 » Sat Dec 06, 2008 12:41 pm

Hi,

I have obtained a bank statement on official stationary, stamped and signed, for the three month period ending on 03-Dec-2008.

My question is : which is the last day I can submit my application ?
Is it 9th Dec or 10th of December.

Thanks,
Sid

Thanks Ram,

I will apply on 8th Dec itself. 9th is a VFS holiday in some locations but not in Mumbai - as per their website.

Hi all,

Please correct if I'm wrong about signed & stamped online bank statement should be okay for Maintenance fund. One don't need to produce any separate letter from bank I suppose.

The tiergeneralguidance 204 (i) clearly states - "Alternatively an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank in question will be accepted. This stamp should appear on every page of the statement.".

Please comment.

Hi R053992,

Please quote your sources for the statement "Signed and stamped statement should be okay but it should be on official bank stationery".

I have taken the below excerpt from Tier1 policy guidance pdf. Have a look at the last sentence -

204. Only the following specified documents will be accepted as evidence of this requirement:
Personal bank or building society i) statements covering the three month period immediately before the application.
The personal bank or building society statements should clearly show:
the applicant’s name;•
the account number;•
the date of the statement;•
the financial institution’s name and logo;•
transactions covering the three month • period;
Tier 1 (General) Policy Guidance page 35 of 49
that there are enough funds present in the • account (the balance must always be at least £2,800 or £800, as appropriate).
Only the most recent statement must be dated within seven days of the application, for out of country applications, and one month for in-country applications.
Ad hoc bank statements printed on the bank’s letterhead are admissible as evidence (this excludes mini-statements from cash points).
If the applicant wishes to submit electronic bank statements from an online account these must contain all of the details listed above. In addition, the applicant will need to provide a supporting letter from his/her bank, on company headed paper, confirming the authenticity of the statements provided. ****Alternatively an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank in question will be accepted. This stamp should appear on every page of the statement.****

Any comments on this.

My friend, my tier 1 application was rejected last month as I had taken one year's statement printout from HDFC bank, all pages stamped and signed, but on plain paper. In my rejection letter this has been highlighted as reason for rejection.

Give me till tomorrow evening and I will quote the exact words of the case worker. Right now I am filling up forms to apply again at vfs tomorrow.

R053992,

Why didn't you filed for an Admin Review based on quotation from Tier-1 Policy Guidance ?

Suds19 - as I have stated elsewhere on your similar post, your interpretation of the Guidance seems right. However, it does not hurt to err on the cautious side.

Hi Sudhansu,

I did not opt for review as there were other faults with my application - my payslips were signed but not stamped, and I had not provided letter from employer listing current financial year's tax deduction details.

I reapplied today with the proper docs.

Going back to the question of bank statements, I will post the case worker's reason for rejection later tonight, for now - this is what I found on this link:
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... nt#3749287

personal bank statements showing salary received – these should be on official bank stationery and show each of the payments you are claiming. Electronic statements should be accompanied by a supporting letter from your bank on company headed paper confirming the documents’ authenticity;

This does leave us with an option to print statements on plain paper but with an accompanying letter from the bank confirming such statements' authenticity. But what beats me is what would the content of such a letter from the bank be ? How will such a document verify that a statement printed on plain paper is authentic, without listing in great detail what the statement holds ? I would love to know if anybody has done this - printing online statements and getting letter from bank verifying the same.

Hi,

I have posted a new topic quoting the case worker's reason for rejecting bank statements. Please have a look.

Topic is : Tier 1 rejection reason - issue with bank statement.
