Advice on filling form AN for naturalisation

Hello everyone,

If I get a solicitor to submit my naturalisation application will the decision email go to solicitor only? or we both will get the confirmation email

If you apply through a solicitor email goes to them as your representative. Have you submitted yet? Generally no need to go through a solicitor - your choice of course.

no I didn't submit yet.but I heard that most of the solicitors are not informing the clients on time. that's why I'm worried.

You would certainly save money by doing the application yourself, and the notification will come to your mailbox.

Please don’t hesitate to post your queries here. Best to start your own thread in forum which will make it easier to track your progress. But generally the application ist straight forward and requires only a minimum of documents.

Hi,

I am applying for British citizenship via naturalisation and I have a question regarding the mandatory 5 year residency prior to application.


I have passport stamps up untill Jan 2024, afterwards, when I returned from holiday in March, the border force officer did not stamp my passport.

Do I need to show additional proof of residency, or would the records on the home office systems be sufficient evidence?

This should not be a problem, after all you have lots of stamps before March, the aim is not to prove every day of residency. Also you should have disclosed the absence days for that holiday. However, UKVI probably will have a record of your arrival, if they scanned your passport, or you used an eGate. If you are still nervous write a covering note explaining that a stamp is missing and load that with your other documents. Also consider if you are well within the absence limits there is no issue.

I was away from the UK for more than 6 months in the early years hence I opted for the Tier-1 5-year process.
When I enter my absences. Do I need to start all over from 2009? my absences during my last 5 years were already reported in my ILR app. Do I need to start from there and repeat myself again?
This is my 7th application to the Home Office now

Why seven applications? have you been refused 7 times?

For the application you are only required to report those covering 5 years back from the application date.
DO NOT rely on what data UKVI may already have - naturalisation is nationality, which is not an immigration application and they won't hunt around for your data on other systems.

Don't read too much into this. The question asks for the expiry date of the card, not ILR, they know ILR is indefinite - this question has been around for years.

Enter the date on your card, as is. It has no bearing on your application.

I have a follow-up question. I own a business where I am the director and owner. However, since May, I have taken on a full-time job (detailed filled in the online form), and my business is currently inactive but i am still director and owner. Should I disclose this information? If so, where and how should I specify these details?
