MN1 application with expired overseas passport

Dear All,

I need to apply for British citizenship for my daughter who is under 18 but her other passport (non British) has expired. I applied for the renewal of that but again as my wife ID card was also expired so they put it on hold which is ridiculous as wife's passport was valid with all other documents.

My question is without wasting time on this, can I use my daughter's expired passport for MN1 application?

Please advise.
