Validity of Stamp 4 Visa

Post by Heble » Sat Aug 26, 2023 3:33 am

Hi All,

Can someone advice me about a Stamp 4 visa? Is the validity for two years or five years?

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Stamp4 visa is valid for 2 yrs. you will have to renew for extension. if you have been legally resident for 5 yrs, you can then apply for naturalisation

Depends on which way you got Stamp 4 - there are a lot of conditions that let you get Stamp 4.
Often it's for a year; sometimes it's 2-3 years (if it's via marriage to Irish citizen, for example); it's 5 years for EUTR applications (EU spouse).
How are you going to get Stamp 4?

Students get Stamp 2 visas.

Yep, hence the confusion - students get Stamp 2 visas initially to study and then 1G to find a job/1 if they got a job, so I don't know how OP is getting Stamp 4 straight away.

Correct I am coming as a student. I am aware I will be getting stamp 2 first and then stamp 1G to find a job. Was not sure about stamp 4 exactly, as I assumed it was permanent residence like ILR which has no validity, so was curious to know what it was. Thank you for all the advice

There's no concept of ILR really. The closes is Stamp 5 (given until passport is expired, but! you still have to renew it) and Stamp 4EUFam given under Treaty rights as a permanent residence - it's also given for 10 yers and you have to eplicitly extend it after AFAIK. Stamps just signify different permissions, what you can and can't do.

There's also Stamp 6, but that just means you have an Irish passport, so it's pointless.
