This is very helpful, 2 questions regarding this;
- Is original passport mandatory? Application cover page says it is not, confirmation email says it is :). Also the webpage says it is not mandatory if you send the copy of PSC card. (I cannot send my passport, I have mandatory trips in August and September)
- When did you get your original documents back?

Hi
Yes the supporting documents does not include country of Origin passport.
But the e-mail is very clear and requests your country of origin passport to be sent by post.
I note someone has posted an answer by TD that passport are not requested by the DFA.

My understanding is this:
Applicant's passport from country of origin/previous nationality, if born outside the island of Ireland

You do need to post the Original country of origin passport unless you can provide another photographic identification certified by Gardai. You can do the same with your passport (Get it certified by Gardai)

If you risk and do not post your original passport than bare in mind they can request additional documents and your tracker will update a new estimated time and that will be another 3 to 4 weeks (Can you risk?) Its entirely upto you.

By the way, you can request your passport back by the DFA webchat and your passport will be returned to you in 1 week.

The answer to your original question:
Supporting documents are retuned in 15 working days after you receive your Irish passport. (You can also request your passport to be sent back to you earlier than this)

Does the tracker immediately update once they receive the documents or does it take a while before they update the portal ?

The tracker updates itself on a daily basis.

Update Guys
I received my supporting documents back today by the passport office.

So as you can see my case timeline, i also posted a picture of my tracker, i also posted a list of documents i posted.
The irish passport had a letter according to which supporting documents be returned in 15 working days BUT i received everything back today alongwith an Irish Passport card.

Although some will start debating that Original passport is no longer required to be submitted but i posted my Original country of origin passport and my case is done and dusted in less than a month so think positive.

I would say it's better to move the discussion above into a Passport discussion topic, just to keep it in one place - for example, that info might be useful for FBR folks as well, but they won't bother checking this.

Hi folks,

I got an email nearly a month ago saying ' A Citizenship Certificate Fee was processed on 12/07/2023. You will receive a letter from this office in due course regarding the final stage of your Citizenship application. ' so I think the next step is already the invitation to the ceremony. They said one will be in autumn 2023, but this is such a wide date range it makes me nervous :? because obv I don't want to miss it, but also I have plans to go abroad for few weeks and spend my annual leave etc... can't really book anything yet until I know when exactly is the ceremony. I know we're all stuck in limbo with this exact issue and nobody knows when will be exactly the next ceremony, but maybe they follow some pattern how long in advance they announce it etc...

I checked and saw on irishimmigration.ie website that last ceremony, which took place on 19th and 20th of June, was announced on 16th of March (announced 3 months in advance). The question is how long in advance is usually the ceremony event announced and what was the minimum time period between the announcement and the ceremony? When was the March 2023 ceremony in Dublin announced?

Any ideas appreciated

This year is extremely unusual as they used online system for events (and a third party planners as well), so they can give next to no notice. Dublin ceremony in RDS wasn't announced and people got invited less than 2 weeks in advance - post2106132.html#p2106132

I wouldn't say we can predict any of that.

Don't bound yourself waiting for someone which will come at an extremely vague time (if it even will come - not everyone who got approved was invited to RDS). There's still another ceremony they promised after autumn one I think, so you should be covered.

Can I ask if additional documents have been asked in verifyng section or being processed section?

Lads, I am safe to say that everyone is happy for those that have already finished their process and have now their Irish passport, but could we move this discussion around passport and documents to the appropriate discussion topics?

e.g.; ireland/passport-application-discussion ... 27123.html

Not that I know of. Most likely some people will get an email mid September.

I got my approval letter for payment today.

I assume they'd announce the dates in upcoming week/weeks...

I have a question.

when you pay 950 euros for the certificate you have to upload some documents, What is a passport-size photo used for?
Does anyone have an answer for this?
maybe anyone who attended the ceremony could answer this question, Thanks

It'll be on your naturalization certificate, as well as your name and address. See this stock photo found online for reference:

For a friend I am assisting, the positive letter and request were received December 2022. Payment submitted at the same time. The payment was not "processed" until February 2023. No invitation for a ceremony received since. Others who attended the ceremony in June 2023 have not received their certificates. I'm only sending this to manage your expectations. I've submitted a PQ to my TD today questioning this process and delays.

Another thread on this site reports a rumour of a Dublin ceremony on 1/2 October. However, as 1 October is a Sunday I'm assuming this rumour is false.

Last time approvals were about 40 days before ceremony, so

The other thread reporting the rumoured date in Dublin now says 2/3 October but no evidence has been cited for this.
