Spouse visa extension, Cat B, earned £18600 in 5 months.

Post by PNE » Tue Aug 15, 2023 11:49 pm

Hi All,

Time has come to extend my wife's spouse visa.
I have not worked for my current employers for 6 months, so I am going to apply under Cat-B

I am an agency worker, and get paid an hourly wage. I get paid weekly. There are no minimum guaranteed hours or wages/salary.
I have worked for my current employer (agency) for 5 months, but I have already earned more than £18600.

Can I apply using Cat-B, but only supply 5 months wage slips?

What do I include in employer's letter as there is no yearly salary/wage as such? Will it be enough if they just mention average weekly wage based on past five months?

My wife arrived in UK in January 2021. Are the new IHS rates applicable to all applicants or do the old rates apply to earlier arrivals?

When does your spouse's current leave lapses?
You have not mentioned anything about another job or previous employer???
Note that Cat B is based on a 12month period which an be made up of time period with different employers.

I read the requirements for Cat-B, and there is no requirement to furnish last 12 months financial data.

I made my wife's extension application based on just 5 months wage slips and bank statements, and it was approved in a flash.

My understanding was correct. I earned more than £18600 in 5 months, so there was no need to provide anything else.

By definition, if you have earned £18600 in five months, you will have earned at least that amount and possibly more in 12 months. So I don't see any grounds for refusal on that score.

The requirement is for the threshold to be met in the previous 12 months; this does not necessarily mean 12 payslips.
