Req. Info on Tier 1 General Visa!

Hi:

I had applied for Tier1 general and got approved 2 months before for a period of 3 years. recently a friend of mine told me that if i didnt travel to uk with in 6 months my visa would get expires!
Is this true, Please let me know ?
