ILR - BRP renewal

Post by chaitumsk » Thu Feb 16, 2023 11:31 am

Hi,

I am looking for timelines of ILR BRP renewal(NOT new ILR application processing) after submitting biometrics on UKVCAS.
Could people who has gone through the process let us know how long it took.
It will help people who are going through the process.

I propose the below format.
Date of biometrics submission :
Date new BRP received :
If I have missed any milestones in the process, please feel free to add them.

It can take up to 6 months. These applications are in the minority to be honest as most people apply for British citizenship.

There is no timeline thread for it as applicants are far and in-between to gets its thread in my opinion.

I agree. There are a few people who would want to continue with ILR status. We have no clue how long it takes in real like we have for ILR timelines. This would help us plan our travel and renewal applications.

It takes anywhere between 8 weeks and 6 months. Generally these are not priority applications as the card expires and not the status. BRPs also appear to no longer be accepted as proof of right to rent/work etc. and you need to do a digital share code for this.

BRP cards are being phased out anyway and even if you get a new one, it will expire on 31st December 2024 and all status in the UK will become digital.

Date biometrics given : 15/02/2023
Location : Luton
Confirmation email received on : 17/02/2023
BRP received on : 21/02/2023
Documents Submitted:
10 years bank statements(one of each quarter)
HMRC letters for 10 years(a few years were missing)
Council tax bills (a few years missing)
A list showing entry and exit dates(travel history). Prepared on an excel and printed out
**Please note, mine could have been an exceptional case. I am quiet surprised it was done so quickly.

We need more people to come up with their actual timelines so we can understand how long it takes.
New BRP is valid till 31/12/2024
Remarks say 'No Time Limit'

Hi,

I am in the similar situation so unsure when I should submit the application, but have not yet started the renewal application as my ILR BRP expires in Jan-24. Can I check: 1) How you can have your Biometrics taken earlier than your application submission date?;2) Did you post your current BRP/passport to HO?

Many thanks.

Apologies I got the months a bit mixed up .

You don't have to post anything i.e BRP/passport to HO. You would need the passport for verification whilst getting your biometrics done and its returned back to you at that point itself.
The official stance is that it can take upto 6months (Ukrainian refugee is given priority etc I was told in the biometric location) . If you are travelling and returning before the BRP expiration date, I suggest you apply after you return. Else its good to apply 3 months before expiration to give an ample buffer time. Also the timeline starts from the day your biometrics is taken and not the day of online submission. The confirmation mail is usually received at the same time/day as your biometric . Hope this helps.

Hi,

Many thanks for your detailed reply.

I am filling the renewal application now, and was wondering how supportive documents, e.g., consent form for HO to do verifications, along with other essential docs, e.g., employment histroy, can be sent?

Thank you again.

Hi.
You just need to attach all the documents to the portal, once you complete the application online..there is section which will ask you start uploading all the documents or you can take all your documents for Biometric appt and they will scan and upload document for a fee.

6 MONTHS AND STILL WAITING.
We are getting really concerned about the timeline. Any updates from other people in a similar position would help if we know whether others are experiencing similar long delays with no contact.

Online submit application: February 2023
Biometrics and documents appointment: April 2023 London
Confirmation email of receipt of documents: April 2023

No contact since

No notification of renewal
No BRP card

We would be very grateful for any advice please. This is for renewal of a BRP for ILR.

Hi! We are over 6 months now and still waiting. No contact since the appointment and confirmation email April 6th.

Getting really really worried. Waiting to travel to visit elderly parents. Any wise words or thoughts would be very welcome.

Thanks.

As we are beyond the 6 months timeline, I phoned the home office contact number off the gov.uk website today, and got through to speak with someone about the delay. No specific application advice, but still helpful. We were given an address to write to the team in Liverpool that would be processing the application.
They also told us that at the moment there is no particular reason why some applications sail through quickly, and others take months, except that it is dependant on the workload of the office, and the individual case officer. This type of application is apparently one of the lowest priority, so other applications would be prioritised over it. If we get no response from the letter, we were told to make a complaint to the Home Office, and were given an email address to do so. The only other advise was to contact our local MP.
Has anyone else reading here gone down any of these routes?

Hello, Was your confirmation email to confirm successful receipt of your documents? Or was it confirming that your renewal application has been successful and your card is on the way? Many thanks

Hi, as been reading all the previous post I would to add that I have recently apply for a new brp rc online. As to confirm my application was free no payment require for the replacement card. I just want to share my application process to all, hope it will help.

After submitting online application to UK Visas & Immigration, I received notification to book and attend an appointment with a commercial partner to provide your documents and enrol your biometrics (fingerprints and facial photograph).

I booked the appointment for the 09th October because it was free

Online application: 12/09/2023
Biometrics: 09/10/2023
Biometric Location: Cardiff
Confirmation email received on : 23/10/2023
Date new BRP received: 7 working days

Received confirmation email today stated that my application has been successfully and will receive my new card in 7 working days

(Note: my card was expired in June 2022, a year ago and only realised in September. I have indefinite leave to remain)

Hope that these info do help others
