Registering a UK born child as British Citizen using MN1 online form

Post by Saterp » Thu Oct 26, 2023 4:42 pm

Dear Forum,

I have been granted ILR status last year and now applying to register my UK-born child to be a British citizen using the online MN1 form. Please can you guide on the following question.
The GP is not willing to be a Referee and fill the referral form so I have taken reference of two British Citizens (Neighbors) would that be acceptable? If so, do I need to explain this in covering letter? Please can you advice a sample covering letter?

Thank You,

I think one of those two referees still has to be a "professional" like a doctor, teacher, etc., and the age requirement is 25 years.

I had the exact same issue (as so many others have mentioned here on the board as most professionals aren't willing to share so much personal information like passport number, contact details, address history, etc.) so I wrote a cover letter, attached the email reply of GP practice in that cover letter and explained that they aren't willing to share and my kids don't go to school/nursery yet, etc.

Best,
Unfortunately, I can't seem to download the supporting evidence from the UKVAC website and also can't find the local copy but I used Chat GPT to write that letter. The format was pretty standard for a formal letter

I explained that I tried to get the references from GP practice but they advised that they don't get involved with applications (attached the screenshot of the email response from GP practice) plus my kids don't go to school and nursery atm so I can't find any other professional who have interacted with the kids in personal capacity hence I have reached out to a family friend who is also a doctor, knows my kids personally but haven't interacted with them in professional capacity etc. Was a couple of paragraphs of text and a screenshot.

Hopefully, moderators or other senior members can guide you more on that and this cover letter may not even be required but would rather be safe by adding extra information than delaying the application for HO to reach out for that which does seem highly unlikely. Good luck

As stated above, cover letters aren't mandatory. Just get 2 persons that fit the requirements, 1 professional (any nationality) and 1 Brit over the age of 25. Application should scale through easy.

Getting someone that has interacted with the kids to give you their data is difficult. Hence you get friends that trust you and fit the criteria.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

@Ticktrack Thanks for your response, can I use below question under immigration details section to Explain that the GP refusal to refer?

"Do you have any other details that you would like to be considered regarding this applicant and their application to be registered as a British Citizen?"

Regards,
Satish

You can use this if there's enough space, alternatively write a separate note and upload with the other documents. It doesn't actually effect the application it's just something to deal with, UKVI are aware.

Hi @alterhase58, I have submitted application and attended the appointment. However, after attending the appointment I realized that the recent port of entry stamp (11th October 2023) is missing in my daughter’s passport. Will this be a problem?

My daughter was accompanied by my wife, and she got the Stamp.

Thank You! :?:

Should be no issue as children have no specific absence requirements.
