Upcoming Ceremony in 2023/4

I can't get my head around the email and diagram from Darragh Brennan, Head of Citizenship Division.
The figures from Deputy James Browne last month were -
11,974 applications received in 2021
9,185 have received a decision to date
17,177 applications from 2022
4,074 have received a decision to date

That means almost 3,000 from 2021 and almost 13,000 from 2022 were still to have decisions. Plus any applications from 2020 and earlier.

If they are working in order of applications they will be clearing the 2021 backlog in December and still have about 13,000 to clear from 2022. As Leo99 said "a spring ceremony will take care of some 2022 applicants".

Going back to Darragh Brennan's email. He said that "the division is on course to have the remainder [of 13,000 eVettings] complete before the end of the year allowing us to issue decisions on these Citizenship applications in 2023."

But this won't all be for 2022 applicants. Many will be for 2021 and earlier.

Unless I have got the figures wrong the email is an admission that the backlog will not be cleared in 2024.
Which begs the question "Why are they reviewing 2023 applications and expect to begin transitioning to final processing from January 2024 when the Minister of Justice has repeatedly maintained that applications are dealt with in chronological order?"

If 4074 from 2022 and 9185 from 2021 (total 13259) got their decision therefore, they should be invited for the next ceremony (Dec). And since there are 7 ceremonies, 7000 out of 13259 are going to go for December and that means those who have not received the decision should not have any hope for the ceremony in december. Am I missing anything?

I am the same. Evetting process completed in August and have been on standby since then. As per the email, over 3000 decisions are due to issue for 2021 and 2022. I hope we are in the lot!!

I asked a couple of friends who have received their acceptance letter and paid the fee and they didn't receive the yesterday's quarterly email by citizenship office. Apparently a large number of people have already paid the fee and waiting for ceremony and didn't receive the email yesterday. This could mean that people who have not recieved the acceptance letter and did not pay the fee will not be among those to be naturalized in Dec. I hope I am wrong thos.

Nope, the ones who didn't get will be the ones who are gonna attend. My wife applied in July this year and got it. Just acknowledgement. Are you saying she's gonna get her approval before Dec?

If you look at the email, there is a diagram (which is not readable easily). The diagram has 4 sections. The third section is for applicants who are in the process of their eVetting or finished it and waiting to get their acceptance letter. The fourth section is for people who have already paid the fee and received the acceptance letter and below the fourth section it says: 7 additional ceremonies are to be held in December. If any logic exist in that email it implies that the 7 ceremonies will be for the people in section four (those who have received their acceptance and paid the fee, Grant.)

True. I didn't realised about that detail. The diagram is pretty hard to read in fairness. It says "Over 3000 decisions due to issue in the coming days for 2021 and 2022 files". That give me some hope... We will then continue to wait....

Hope for the decision only and not the ceremony. Still more than 13000 people got their decision and waiting for the ceremony ...

I've heard of a story about someone who couldn't attend in March - was invited for October.

Just click that you can't attend and wait for ISD reassign you, I guess.

I'm the same situation. I have two tickets for 19th December and I didn't suppose that they will do ceremony almost in Christmas. Rebooking price 600 e at least of will be place.

I'm not sure that doing the math based on the most recent email is a useful exercise. I'd be a fairly straightforward candidate (Stamp 1+4, nothing to find in a background check, etc) and I completed vetting (disclosure viewed) in early June. I still haven't been approved.

I have a ticket on 10th and I am not sure if I am invited or not. If I know now, I can change my ticket but closer to the date, would be super expensive...
I also have not received the acceptance Disclosure viewed in mid-July.
There are several inconsistencies in their emails.
Last time they said our expectation is to naturalise all 2022 and before in 2023 and this time they said the vast majority of 2022 and before will get their decisions.

if you haven't received the acceptance letter yet, i wouldn't worry much about changing flight tickets to be honest. even people who have already received it and paid don't know if they will make the Dec ceremony. a lot of decision letters were received the week after the last October ceremony.

I think this is exactly it though. We dont get the respect or care to enable planning ? Christmas is nearly a month a away and we have no clarity as to whether we will be included in the ceremony or not so we dont even get the dignity to plan being able to be with our families? As we all make the citizenship and ceremony a priority as it means a great deal to us and we have respected the process thus far and it has impacted our lives for unfair amount of time and a little consideration from the department would be greatly appreciated. I understand that this process has to be respcted but a little show of care, consideration and respect to us in the wait would be wonderful.

This process has impacted us all and some more than others as a result of how long we have had to wait and we do so as we respect the process and dont want to impact or impede the proces. I just wish we could be treated a little more equally.

if iam in your position, i would look at this as below, if my application is approved/ payment processed, there is a fighting chance to be included in the upcoming ceremony. if not , i wont bother abt the ceremony and just focus on my life

Today morning I got email, that my evetting application has been completed and a disclosure.
Now I have to awaiting for next stages.

today I received an email as well. mine said.... 'A Citizenship Certificate Fee was processed on 14/11/2023. You will receive a letter from this office in due course regarding the final stage of your Citizenship application.'
I started this joke of a process in June 2021. at the time they said it would be 12 months for a straightforward application. since then they never asked me for anything further so am guessing it was straight forward but still took this long.
Gardai vetting was only done and completed in August 2023, got the acceptance letter in October 2023 paid on the 10th oct. i also have a flight ticket for 19th December but not changing any goddamn ticket cos i have lowered my expectations. am not putting my life on hold anymore for this.

Thank you. i got my e-vetting in May and disclosure viewed in August. I received my approval in October and payment was made the same day (10/10). I dont think we can compare cases unfortunately as there are many who applied in 2023 (though I am not one) and have received their certificates. I think it depends on the case officer assigned and the division and how straight forward the application is... I am so sorry you have not received anything yet and I truly hope you do!

You will get an email invitation later (if you're invited); you can either say yes (and get into the lists) or no (and ISD will reschedule you to some other ceremony).

Or you may not be invited as well. We don't know m

Is there any instance of applicants not invited for ceremony inspite of paying the fees and receiving confirmation for more than 6 months to 9 months. Have we seen any such instances?
