Residence permit in Sweden for long-term residents in the EU

Post by frit.way » Wed Dec 17, 2008 5:30 pm

1) If I have a residence permit in an EU member state but i are not an EU citizen, i can acquire the status of long-term resident in that country. I can acquire this after i have held a residence permit in that country for five years if i can show that i can support meself and my family. In doing so, you will acquire certain rights which are similar to those of EU citizens. This means that i have greater opportunity to work, start my own company in another EU member state, such as ( UK ). Me family members are entitled to accompany me.

2) What are the rules ?

3) What documents do I need?

Unfortunately, directive 2003/109 , concerning long term resident permits for 3rd country nationals is not applicable to UK, Ireland and Denmark.
