Minor - Certificate of Registration

Post by pangsjil » Sat Nov 25, 2023 12:45 pm

Hi, My daughter is Minor so applied for Certificate of Registration as British Citizen.
We received the certificate through post today. Applied on 02-May and received certificate on 25-Nov.
One step done.

a) Can someone help with the next steps ?
Apply for British Passport
Surrender existing Passport
Anything else to consider?

b) Assuming next steps is to apply for British Passport, can you please share link for the forms?
Any idea on how long the process would take pls?

Between my daughter is ILR holder currently. So we need to return it immediately OR is there a Ceremony we need to complete first before returning the ILR BRP card?

Yes, apply for a British passport.

Please ask your surrender and OCI questions in the 'OTHER COUNTRIES' sub forum other-countries/
b) Assuming next steps is to apply for British Passport, can you please share link for the forms?
Can't you use Google like everyone else does??? That is what we have to do, so you should do your own research before posting a question.

You can apply for a 1 week fast track service passport or standard service can take anywhere between a couple of weeks and 10 weeks.

Children DO NOT attend a ceremony. Only people 18 and older do. You must return the ILR BRP card.

Thank you very much.

So for Minors we don't need to attend the Ceremony so is this mean we have to return the ILR BRP with in 5 working days from today? (and apply for British Passport in parallel).

Returning the ILR BRP card and applying for a passport are separate, unrelated processes.

The ILR BRP is no longer valid. We have had a report on the forum of someone being fined £1000 for not returning the BRP.

Your choice what you choose to do.

First British Passport - Child

Post by pangsjil » Wed Nov 29, 2023 7:26 pm

Hi,

I'm applying for British Passport for my daughter. Have paid the fees and it is now asking for someone to confirm identity.

Ask someone to confirm your identity
What you need to do
You need to ask someone to confirm your identity. We can’t receive your documents until this is done.

Once your identity is confirmed, we’ll let you know where to send your documents.

Continue

when i click on Continue it prompts for Ref #, email, DOB and comes back to same screen as above.

Where should we add the details for someone to confirm identity.

This is now sorted. Guess system takes sometime to load relevant pages. Identity confirmed.

Asking to send Citizenship registration certificate + Current Passport. Should we send originals?
