Applying for a SA visa in London help!!!!!!!!

Post by samsadeniz » Thu Dec 18, 2008 11:08 pm

I'm a Turkish citizen. It is unbelievable that SA has no consulate in Istanbul. there is a consulate in Ankara. It will cost me a fortune to go to ankara stay in a hotel etc. I also live in London (10 minutes from the SA consulate.) Should I apply in London???? how long would it take??? I've been accepted to work as an unpaid intern for a non profit charity term 6 months... I need some advise... thank you...

Generally you may apply for a visa at the embassy or a consulate in the country in which you are legally resident. But what is your status in the UK? Do you have some sort of residential status in the UK or do you just spend a lot of time in the UK?

There are sometimes exceptions (e.g. for work permits/visas, migration visas — as opposed to ordinary visitor visas), and obviously the specific rules and regulations will be set by the country in question (in this case, South Africa): have you contacted the South African consulate in London and asked them? This might be difficult to do, of course: a specialist visa agency might also be able to advise (but they would charge you to apply for the visa, which might be worth the money...).

Thank you for responding. I've been granted multiple tourist visas for more than 10 years. 5-year visa 2-year visa 2 year visa I recently got another 2 year visa. I also had 4 year student visa. I own a property&financial assets In London. I phoned the SA embassy in Ankara(turkish capital) visa officer told me that It shouldn't be a problem and It would probably take couple of days longer than the usual. But I would like to hear your thoughts on this thank you...

Be aware of the six months in every twelve diktat for visit visas, a visit visa is not a living visa....
