FLR(M) 5 Years

Post by talreh20 » Mon Jan 01, 2024 7:18 pm

Hi All,

Asking for a friend. My friend's wife received FLR(M) in Jun 2021 which is on expiring 27th January 2024. He is now looking to apply ilr in next few days i.e. before 28 days of expiry. The question he is asking if he applies now, and Home office issues the Visa in next 7 days for another 2.5 years, what will be the visa start date? As if its issued in a week's time, she won't be able to complete 5 years.

Please advise.

Vida start date is from date of decision. The start date is not tagged into the expiry date of rhe previous visa.

But, what exactly is he applying for as you mention ILR and 2.5 year visa. They are two different applications.

She is applying for extension of FLR(M).

and she'll apply for ILR after 2.5 years. her current visa is from 27-07-2021 to 27-01-2024. if they apply now and get the visa in a week's time, they'll get another 2.5 years. So they will be short of lets say 20 days in five years.

She can apply for ilr within 28 days before her initial visa issue date 5th anniversary.

If they apply now, you are assuming they will get a biometric appointment and a decision within a week. Possibly not.

They want to travel to Pakistan by 26 January. So they might book the paid appointment which can be in a day or two.

On to the visa decision, I applied for my wife's visa on 1st Apr 2022 and she was granted the visa on 6th April 22. The same timeline was also for another friend of mine who was applied in Jan 22 and his wife got the visa in a week. Hence the reason assuming that they may get the visa in a week's time.

There is no guarantee it will be that fast even for priorityapplicatios, you are basing it on hope.

Technically, if the visa is short 20 days to 5 years completion, it's still ok. She can apply 8 days before it expires, as the rules allow you to apply 28 days before the 5 years mark.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
