arriving one day before the schengen visa validity date

Hi all,

I got Schengen visa from 01/01/09 but my plane will reach Paris on 31/12/2008. I just wanted to know if i can stay one day in transit hotel and then go to my next destination without requiring any further papers. I am from India but staying in Singapore and will be flying from there.

Well you'll have to enter france and your visa won't be valid yet. You'll have to wait until 00h00 1 january 2009 before your visa is valid. Not sure if the french immigration will let you through. Depending on who's on duty, they might let you through or they could invalidate your visa as well. Maybe someone else could shed some light on this.

Was the visa validity date a mistake on behalf of the french consulate not checking the arrival date on your plane tickets?

At what time does your flight arrive?
Aiming at travelling to the UK with my wife and not with an EEA FP!

Is this not the case of contacting the French Consulate?

Will the airline let you board, do you think?

I suspect that the airline will refuse you boarding as they face a hefty fine if your are refused entry into France.
